When I skate a big part of my motivation is two friends who tragically died way too young, Jason Massey and Ryan Baczynski.

Their juxtaposition of how they left had been on my mind lately. As Jason tried his absolute best to stay on this mortal coil but lost a long battle with a Brain tumour.
Ryan on the other side also gave his best to battle depression but unfortunately lost and took his own life.

Both had a devastating effect on the people who knew and loved them, myself included. However instead of focusing on how they left us I realised what they meant before that was more important.

Their common thread was they both instilled the importance of putting in effort and trying hard in whatever they were doing. With also the counter balance of not taking yourself too seriously and having fun. They were both the cheekiest
guys I have ever known. If I’m not trying hard enough or conversely being too hard on myself I would think of them.

Another trait they had was having no problem telling anyone their honest opinion haha I feel like that meant they cared if they let you know you were blowing it.

So as always I skate for both Jason and Ryan who no longer can. I think they would appreciate that even if I put some questionable tricks in this part and if they hated the song haha And that is ok because I loved them and I knew they loved me.

This is also a nod to Marc Johnson after his untimely passing. I don’t think there is any skateboarder from around my age especially that wasn’t influenced by him. You could tell he put everything into his craft whilst making it lighthearted and less serious when it needed to be.
Vale Chauncey Peppertooth.

To quote Jason’s favourite line “Quit yakkin, get cracking and make it happen”
