Forever changed. Thank you CBC. Take a chance on Jesus, I promise you won’t regret it. Go to church this weekend, read the Bible, go to a ministry event this semester. God desires a relationship with you and for you to experience the depths of His love.

Blessed is an understatement. To be in the presence of a God who uses students no matter their age or background is awe inspiring. The same God who raised Jesus from the dead resides in these students. This event means nothing if God doesn’t show up and boy did He show up. God is so beautiful, if you don’t stop to smell the roses you will miss it.

“Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom.” 2 Corinthians‬ ‭3‬:‭17‬ taken in Freeman Coliseum by @ryan.ireland_

Something I wish someone told me long ago was that it can be better. I didn’t have to constantly feel empty and alone. I didn’t have to be defined by my past. Jesus washed me clean and all it took was faith in Him and repentance. “Then I will sprinkle clean water on you, and you will be clean; I will cleanse you from all your filthiness and from all your idols.” (Ezekiel‬ ‭36‬:‭25‬). Yes we are filthy, but we can be clean! And God wants to clean us. You don’t get into the shower clean, so don’t try to clean yourself up before coming to God. We see in the very next verse: “Moreover, I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit within you; and I will remove the heart of stone from your flesh and give you a heart of flesh.” (Ezekiel‬ ‭36‬:‭26‬). Upon being cleansed, we are made new! In this newness of life I have found abundant love and life in Jesus and no longer feel empty, alone or defined by my past. Not only can it be better, but with Christ it will be better! by @ryan.ireland_

Jesus is King, but He is also the Suffering Servant. “He was despised and rejected by men, a man of sorrows and acquainted with grief; and as one from whom men hide their faces he was despised, and we esteemed him not.” (Isaiah‬ ‭53‬:‭3‬). Jesus didn’t just brutally die, he suffered, was humiliated, tortured and abandoned. And he didn’t do this for Himself, He did it for YOU. “But He was pierced for our offenses, He was crushed for our wrongdoings; The punishment for our well-being was laid upon Him, And by His wounds we are healed.” (Isaiah‬ ‭53‬:‭5‬). How profound is it that our all-powerful God humbled Himself in becoming man and went through this humiliation and brutality so that we may have relationship with Him. Only a God who loves you inexplicably would do this for you. Love in its most raw and real form is revealed in the Son of Suffering. by @ryan.ireland_

Empty is not the end. In 2 Kings 4 we see Elisha command the widow to retrieve specifically empty vessels so they may be filled with oil. We see that in order to be full, it must first be empty. What should we be full of? The Spirit of God! Why? Because “the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control” (Gal‬ ‭5‬:‭22‬-‭23‬) Who doesn’t want to be full of that good fruit! You may be asking how do we receive the Spirit? All we have to do is ask! “If you then, who are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will the heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask him!” (Luke‬ ‭11‬:‭13‬) Emptiness isn’t your final destination, God desires to make you full. All you have to do is ask! by @ryan.ireland_

“For I am sure that neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers, nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus.”
