POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

I didn't start off the year reading as much as I once did in my younger years. About some time half way through the year I took it upon myself to read more and to keep my mind active.
Over the last 6 months (even though I may have slacked the last month 😅) I've come across some great stories that were entertaining and thought provoking, but I also stumbled upon an amazing reading community that has been nothing but welcoming and kind, and I wanted to say thank you to those I've interacted with as you've given me a reason to continue this reading journey.
Moving forward, I am changing my social media handles to Ryan_Reads. The main reason for this change is to create a page that is almost all about my readings but with some aspects of my personal life that I find interesting. I'll still be doing my best to read a book every couple of weeks at the start of the new year and to push towards reading at least 25 books this year! (Wish me luck 😬)
Once again, thank you for the kind and friendly people that have been apart of this journey! You are all the greatest 😊 and everyone have a safe and Happy New Year!!! 🎉 by @ryan_reads95

4.7⭐ I really really really enjoyed this one! Way more than I expected to. I went into TSoK thinking the story would be centered around the relationship between a mother and son, with the story more focused on the son's growth and his future within the village. Without any spoilers, my assumptions weren't wrong, but things took a very unexpected turn and I was impressed with how the author navigated the story and the intense emotional moments and themes. I cried on numerous occasions and keep thinking about this story, since I finished it. Also another buddy read with @hiddeninabook I thoroughly enjoyed our conversations on this book. 😊

4.2⭐: Green City Wars - Adrian Tchaikovsky
After finishing this book, I was sad to be leaving the world of the Gehirner. This was such a fun read and I was deeply interested in the world and the characters within it. One thing for sure is that Tchaikovsky knows how to craft and sculpt a world and knows how to keep readers interested. I was just always wanting more lore and more character introductions and more whacky contraptions. The main character Scotch, a hard working private eye Raccoon, was the perfect protagonist to this story, which is an homage to noir stories of the past. Overall, I really want to go back into this world and I'm hoping for a book 2 of Scotch or at least another book delving into the Gehirner world!

The final installment in the Bloodsworn Saga was a great finale to a trilogy that made me laugh, cry, and scream multiple times. I loved the setting, the main characters, and the resolution to their stories. My only criticism might have been some moments right before the ending but I don't want to spoil it! One day I'll have to check out the other books by John Gwynne.
Also thank you @hiddeninabook for the buddy read! It was a lot of fun 😊

3.5⭐ The First Book in My Friends' Book Club!

The Quiet Librarian was an emotional ride that takes you through the life of someone who experienced atrocities during the Genocide in Bosnia. Throughout the book, the reader is exposed to harrowing moments that culminate in a rewarding and satisfactory end to the story. This story is eye opening for those who are not aware of the war and was also a touching story about overcoming our own fears and insecurities.

Review: Book 2 of the Bloodsworn saga was a great continuation of the pace set in book 1. John Gwynne does a great job at setting the foundation and laying story points on top to create a phenomenal finale to the story. The introduction of new characters, as well as the development of old characters is done very well and overall I just found myself not able to stop reading the last 15-20 chapters. My only issue is that I felt the middle part of the book was a little slow and relied on the explosiveness of the ending to really create an engaging story. Overall, I thought this was an even better story than book 1 and am super excited to continue on to book 3!
