With a few HYROX athletes on the books, I rounded up some troops to help them prepare for Perth in 2 weeks ⚡️

➡️ This one was a little different.

The session called for near-maximal output on each working movement, with one rule — every time they had to break, they went straight into an active recovery run or bike before getting back to work.

💭 The goal: create a high level of metabolic stress and lactate accumulation, then transition immediately into light aerobic movement to practise clearing and utilising lactate while still working.

HYROX isn’t just about producing power when you’re fresh. It’s about being able to recover while moving, manage fatigue, and keep producing output when the legs are already cooked.

A different stimulus from the usual engine sessions — but a valuable one with Perth getting close.

⚡️HYROX Brisbane Duo Athlete Spotlight: Kristyn Gardiner & Morgan Tobin.

Even though I only took these two girls through 1x face to face session in the lead up to #hyroxbrisbane — They have both been regular attendees to my HYROX capacity classes at @functionwellaustralia Newstead since they joined last year so they deserve a shout out!

Since then, the girls have immersed themselves into the Function well lifestyle and continuing to improve week by week. Kristyn had already competed once in mixed doubles with her husband and now deciding to jump in with her best mate Morgan for her hyrox debut.

Training together and competing together is such a valuable tool to help anyone go further. Even if I have to double check they’re not chatting too much during the class workout 👀—They’ve shown everyone how much they love training and becoming a part of the function well community.

@morganlee_amy & @kristyng__ have already booked their race calendar for the rest of the year! With their goals set, we are all looking forward to cheering you both on! Let’s goo! 🎉 by @ryan_wynnperformance

⚡️HYROX Brisbane Athlete Spotlight: Jordan Groeneveld

Jordan is a long time member at @functionwellaustralia and certainly adhering to the 4 pillars of health:
Mindset — Nutrition — Movement — Restoration

With a diligent approach to his wellness, you’d regularly find Jordan attending Yoga, Pilates, StretchFit, Strength and HYROX classes — The way Jordan optimises his training can be regarded as the perfect mix for a long and healthy life.

With a CrossFit background and then the introduction of HYROX — I knew when Jordan decided to put himself up for the test, he’d do extremely well in the sport. Debuting in Brisbane with 2 races and knocking it out of the park!

I guess you can say he’s got the bug with the plans of 2x more events this year and clear goals in sight.

Well done at Brisbane @lululemming — Onto the next one! by @ryan_wynnperformance

⚡️HYROX Brisbane Athlete Spotlight: Dylan Collins

‘The Prospect’ - At such a young age, Dylan has already showed tremendous talent in the sport from his attitude, willingness to learn and grow which contributes so well to his athlete mentality.

With his first race only 9 months ago — his upward trajectory in #hyrox is more than obvious. Now 6 races down with:
—> 2x Open solo
—> 2x Mixed doubles
—> 1x PRO solo
—> 1x men’s doubles
Competing twice in each race weekend over 3 different events

Notable achievements so far:
👉Open solo - 9 minute PB — 5 months apart
👉 PRO solo - 4 minutes faster than his open debut — 8 months apart
👉 Men’s doubles debut - 1 hour and 1 second!
👉 Mixed doubles - 1hr and 4 mins!
👉 Average running pace improved by 44 seconds per KM!!

A Podium finish is the goal for Dylan and I’m tipping he’ll get there in no time! Keep at it @dylancollins_3 ⚡️⚡️ by @ryan_wynnperformance
