Quite the surreal experience opening a handful of shows for Dwight Yoakam and Los Lobos this weekend. Absolute legends. by @ryandrummoore
We drove 7,500 miles across 20 states, played 17 shows, ate 6 home cooked meals and scarfed down dozens of green room sandwiches over these last 30 days. Grateful for the opportunity to see such beautiful parts of the country, but very happy to be home. by @ryandrummoore
Our beloved Petra passed away this week after a legendary 17 years of life, 10 of which I had the honor of being her dog dad. I never had a dog growing up. We were always a cat family, largely due to the time demands of my parents’ work and my brother’s and my extracurriculars, which made dog ownership seem not very feasible. I never really envisioned myself having the time or attention to devote to deeply caring for a doggo in the way they truly deserved. Becca has always joked that I fell for Petra before I fell for her, and she’s really only half-joking. The first time I met Petra, I was walking into our friend Mari’s apartment, and she made a break for the door right as I yelled, “What in tarnation?!”, and I proceeded to chase her little butt around the complex for what felt like a good 10-minute pursuit before tackling her in the hallway. After only a few months of Becca and me dating, Petra got loose again and this time was hit by a car on Monroe Dr. by Piedmont Park. My friend Tom rushed his truck around to take her to the ER as Becca and I held her covered in blood, bawling our eyes out. We weren’t sure if she was going to survive, and if she did, the recovery wasn’t going to be easy. To top it off, Becca was leaving for the Middle East just three days later to do important human rights work in the West Bank, and I was already nervous about watching a dog on my own for the whole summer. My friends Nick and Harrison were there for me a lot, and Petra and I made it through those tough few months. She lived another beautiful 9 years, and we were forever bonded. She was Becca’s and my shadow throughout college graduations, first jobs, COVID, time apart due to touring, wedding planning, young marriage, and our first home as a family. Last May, when we were packing up our long-time apartment in East Atlanta to move into our new house, Petra got really sick, and again, we didn’t think she would survive to live in our new home. She made a full recovery and got us all settled in just the way we needed her to. She was the best dog in the world, and I will miss her forever. by @ryandrummoore

We’ve got another great Sunday show at @theworldfamousathens on April 12th! Artwork by @jeremyrayis See y’all there! . . . Spencer Thomas Atlanta-based artist Spencer Thomas returns with Cynical Vision, his third and most incisive album yet, out March 20, 2026. Wry and sardonic, the record balances humor and existential dread, blending retro synths, vintage drum machines, and fuzzed-out guitars into an intoxicating mix of analog and electronic sounds. Nods to Randy Newman, Lou Reed, Warren Zevon, and Tom Petty shine through as Thomas holds a mirror to modern life, delivering a whip-smart meditation on the absurdity and beauty of living and loving in the 21st century. “In a lot of ways, it felt impossible for me to not write about this stuff,” Thomas says. “I leaned into what felt interesting and current and funny, and tried to make something visceral and honest.” Nikki & the Phantom Callers Growing up in rural Dadeville, Alabama, Nikki Speake has a specific Southern grit embedded in her soul. More Flannery O’Connor than Margaret Mitchell, there’s a morbid spirit to much of Speake’s writing, and nowhere is that more apparent than Nikki & the Phantom Callers’ debut LP, Everybody’s Going To Hell (But You and Me). The eleven-track collection of boot-stomping alt-country and jangly indie-rock weaves a series of stories exploring a beautiful darkness in stark contrast to their predominantly sunny tonality; a Southern Gothic study of grief soundtracked by country-tinged ‘60s pop. “I am very Southern, I grew up in a traditional Southern Baptist family going to church three times a week,” says Speake. “Those older Southern generations have so much grief surrounding them—even the church services are morbid. I think my vocabulary was formed by that, so it’s just how I think.” Rod Hamdallah Atlanta Garage Rocker, Rod Hamdallah has been tearing up Atlanta’s vibrant music scene since before he was old enough to order his first drink. At 16, Rod began soaking up the Southern Delta Blues and Garage Rock sounds at a relentless pace; Influenced by early Punk, 50’s and 60’s R&B and Garage Rock, Rod took his sound to another level. by @ryandrummoore

Hey friends, I’ll be playing another show to close out the year with @tylerkey_okay and @codymarlowe at @smithsoldebar on 12/27. I’m lucky enough to open the show with some of my songs and then to play drums the rest of the night in two of my favorite bands. Come hang out and hear some tunes. 📸 @adequate_chad by @ryandrummoore
