The standard was set. Now it’s time to raise it.

The Capital City National Showcase returns for Year 2, bringing together some of the nation’s top high school basketball talent for a weekend of elite competition in the nation’s capital.

Bigger stage. Better competition. Our mission continues to be putting the spotlight on the next generation of stars.

This is more than basketball. This is a platform. This is culture. This is THE NATIONS CAPITAL and THE HOOPS CAPITAL.

They told me being a boy mom would change my life… and it did. But becoming the mother of a little brown-skinned girl? Whew. That will be an honor, a responsibility, and a kind of love I can’t even put into words yet. 🎀🤎

To my sweet Ryleigh Camille, I already can’t wait to hear your little voice sing “mommy” to me. I pray you grow up knowing you are soft and strong, beautiful and brilliant, and worthy in every room you walk into.

This weekend was nothing short of extraordinary. The outpouring of love for our baby girl overwhelmed me in the best way possible. To every friend, auntie, cousin, planner, decorator, vendor, and family member who poured into this celebration — thank you. To my village, my girl squad, my late-night “we gon figure it out” crew… thank you for the calls, the tears, the planning spirals, the laughter, and for standing beside me through every detail.

And to every person who helped bring my vision to life — y’all showed OUT. 🥹✨ baby… y’all understood the assignment. 💕 BIG MAMA, 2 kids!

The Capital City National Showcase was more than an event — it was a reminder of how far this journey with basketball has taken me. From every gym, every sideline, every late-night planning session, this game has introduced me to some of the most incredible people. And that’s the real blessing.

This weekend wasn’t just about competition. It was about a team of talented, dedicated individuals coming together to build something special for the city. The work, the energy, the execution — none of it happens without the amazing group behind the scenes. I’m grateful for every person who played a role in making CCNS what it was.

And then there’s @drethemayor

In all the years I’ve worked events, held roles, and carried responsibilities, I’ve never had someone truly see me — see my skill set, my passion, my eye for the details, my ability to strategize, create, lead, and execute — and then trust me enough to let me operate at my highest level with no limits.

Dre, your belief in me changed everything. Your superpower is spotting talent and bringing the right people together, and you did that here in the most powerful way. Thank you for giving me space to be who I am, for trusting my voice, and for pushing me to step fully into what I do best. This partnership is different. This bond is different.

People say that you’re DretheMayor… but after seeing how you move, how you lead, and how you make things happen for this city, I get it. You really are.

Here’s to the work.
Here’s to the growth.
And here’s to the people who make the journey worth it.

@capitalcitynationalshowcase 2025 — we did that, shorty. 🤝🏽🏀✨
