Very Special ‘Behind the ropes’ access to one of the most fascinating pieces of engineering ever created the Lockheed SR71 #962 The only one outside of the US. Why is it when engineering reaches its peak, it often results in beauty. Hard to express how incredible this aircraft is. One word - ANALOGUE! #LAspeedstory by @ryanjamestaggart

Another fantastic #scramble @bicestermotion Thanks to the weather gods for the sunshine. And thanks to the owner of the #gordonkeeble for turning up in the one car my son wanted to see IRL by @ryanjamestaggart

A wonderful film. Its clear that Luca di Montezemolo wouldn’t have made this with just anybody. He knew Manish & Chris would get it right, but then I guess that’s what he’s spent a lifetime doing. Leading people to do wonderful things. Bravo! #chrisharris #minishpandey #ferrari #lucaseeingred by @ryanjamestaggart

Yesterday at the Henley Traditional Boat Festival, I was lucky enough to stumble upon the Wells Vertige from @wellsmotorcars.co.uk & luckier still to get to speak to the company founder, Robin Wells. In my opinion, the #vertige brings together a fantastic engine (one that I lived with and loved in a Fiesta ST150) with a remap and new throttle bodies. All-round double wishbone suspension, dials that move with the steering wheel for exacting adjustment. A design that while successfully tipping its hat to the 1960s, also manages to pay homage to so many of my favourite cars. I can see GMA T33, Alfa 33 Stradale (especially in the doors) Ginetta, and Lotus Elan to name a few. I particularly love the way the main lines that run through the car run from front to back. Its proportions are spot on and at 4 x 1.75m, it is built for a B Road. The repositioning of the silencer putting it on show through the rear Perspex curved window, requires longer connections to the tail pipe, creating an engine noise more like a V6 than a four cylinder. This car has music in its soul. At 850Kg dry weight, it is Chapman-esque in its Britishness. Lotus take note! @chrisharrisoncars - please review this car @harrysgaragevids - this needs throwing round the Cotswolds! by @ryanjamestaggart

A 9th birthday present ‘for Rafe’ (honestly) Vintage 1992 TopTrumps. It was so much easier when I was that age choosing which car would be worthy of a poster. Loving the Monospecchio Testarrosa, and noting the conspicuous absence of the 288GTO. Little did we know that 1992 would see the arrival of the McLaren F1 - Things were about to change. by @ryanjamestaggart

At it again! Great drive, great company #porsche911 sharpshep #alfagiuliaquadrifoglio @russler80 additional flags ordered - roll on the next adventure 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿🇫🇷🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿 by @ryanjamestaggart

A fantastic trip last week to the @morganmotor factory and a tour of the production line. Followed by my third live podcast recording by @smithandsniff - brilliant utter bobbins. Amazing to see so much of the process still using original techniques. Fine craftsmanship with skills handed down the generations. The woodwork shop felt like a fine furniture shop (a wonderful smell of ash) Amazing to see the personal choices being applied in the upholstery and paint shops. Still in Malvern, it’s the epitome of old school British 🇬🇧 (spotted on the tour @jonnycarpervert giving the #eaglequest a pre podcast spruce up) #CMTMB by @ryanjamestaggart

Racking up the miles. Epic run to Scotland 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 in the company of old friends. Taking in Snake Pass on route to the Lake District. A visit to the Ruskin museum in Coniston to see BlueBird K7 and pay respect to Donald Campbell. Then onto Scotland via Hartside Pass. Cherry picking some of the best bits of the NC500 (thanks @harrysgaragevids ) Not forgetting a fuel up at #greenwelly She didn’t miss a beat, and she drinks with two straws. Don’t forget to stop at #tebay (if you know, you know)

Bicester Scramble. Amazing Aston Martin Wings Assembly. A highlight for me was the remoulded side strakes on the Concorde edition, and learning that the gear paddles were recast from Concorde parts, so that every time you change gear you’re touching the Concorde! Seeing the Red Arrows edition parked in formation was also a treat. Perhaps my fav of the day was a Le Mans Blue F355, with a beautiful interior, which included a pre airbag wheel. So wonderfully uncluttered. Also the Yellow Testerossa that parked adjacent to me. A gorgeous Dino tucked away down the avenues. Merlin power turning up to show the puny gravity trapped cars who’s boss (although the McMurtry Spéirling was there to remind us that now there’s a car that can defy gravity) Honourable mentions to the Lotus Carlton, a stunning green DB4, and the Alan Mann Escort - great to see as I picked up the latest edition of The Road Rat. Perfect weather. Another fine Scramble. #bicesterscramble #sundayscramble #astonmartin #raf #concorde #redarrows #spitfire #astonmartinwings #theroadrat by @ryanjamestaggart

The only one of our cars that Rafe is willing to help clean. Handy little hands to get inbetween the spokes. #lotus #emira by @ryanjamestaggart
