I had been envisioning and planning this cart for years.
Now it’s finally here.
I first got the idea for a narrow footprint sound cart using some sort of drawer system back in 2023 after seeing another sound mixer build a custom cart utilizing drawers.
My aim was to solve a problem I had.
I was tired of unpacking a pelican every time I needed something.
Pull my pelican off my cart, open the pelican, sift through containers, pull out container, grab what I need, put the container back in the pelican, close the pelican, put the pelican back on the cart…
This was tedious, annoying, and ate up too much time.
I wanted to be quicker on set. Loading in and out, grabbing things in a pinch.
So when I discovered the idea of a cart built around drawers, it was a no brainer.
I explored some options of how to go about it.
I played with the idea of using an airline beverage cart for a little while, looked into the Maverick from Sound Cart, thought about making my own using bins…
All of which fine options, but didn’t check every box I had on the list of what I particularly needed.

Then later in 2023 I started seeing ads for a new modular toolbox system coming out. Stacktech by @toughbuilt
Unlike already existing modular toolboxes, these looked clean and didn’t scream, “I’m here to build something with my power tools!”
Nowadays it’s not too uncommon to see modular tool boxes used on film sets, or for various other creative applications outside of contractor job sites.
Lots of people are catching on to how wildly practical and amazing working out of modular toolboxes can be.
But at the point of my Stacktech discovery, they were just teasing what would be released. Eventually the first wave of products were released, but not exactly what I needed. I had my eyes set on particular boxes that were “coming soon...”
Then began the waiting game. Months passed by. One year passed by. Another year passed by. Promises of a release date soon. Then Tariffs causing more delays, which then eventually they were released, but not in America…
I nearly gave up on Stacktech, but then the day finally came and the new boxes were finally available in America.

A new audiobook from the great @wadejoye isn’t complete without a reference to a galaxy far far away…

I’m currently deep into the audiobook edit for @wadejoye’s newest and amazing book, “Man Enough.”

When it comes to audiobooks, the best dialogue editing is the editing you never notice.

What you see here is one of the least glamorous and most time-consuming parts of the process: finding tiny mouth clicks, crackles and distractions one by one.

Yes, there are tools that can De-click an entire file in one pass. And sometimes they’re incredibly useful.

But I’m very careful about blanket-processing a voice recording.

A voice is made up of tiny transients and details. Consonants, articulation, texture, presence. Push restoration too far and you can start removing pieces of the performance along with the noise.

So when the recording deserves it, I’d rather listen closely, identify the problem, repair that specific moment, and leave everything else alone.

Click by click.

The goal isn’t to make the voice sound “processed.”

It’s to remove everything distracting you from the person speaking while preserving everything that makes them sound human.

Also, management has been watching me very closely lately 🤖

This was pretty cool…
We recently had a staycation at a Walt Disney World resort.
While browsing the “Disney On Demand” content on the in-room TV, one of the first videos available to watch is a project I got the honor to be a part of.
For this very fun video, I both recorded the production audio
and did the full post-production audio edit & mix.
How cool it was to see something I both recorded and mixed in a Disney Resort, available for thousands of families to watch and help them as they make memories.
Also, what a truly great family @homeoftheharveys are.
I am continually grateful and appreciative for these opportunities.
Getting to work with and alongside great, talented, and creative people, using the gifts and experiences I’ve been blessed with to help others, never gets old.

What if your worship song sounded like a film score?

I had the chance to compose and arrange a full orchestral layer over this song written by my amazing wife @harleymonette and myself. I built out the strings, woodwinds, brass, and even a choir to elevate its emotion and impact.

It’s Good Friday!!! We wrote this song as a reminder of what JESUS did for us and how the power of His blood 🩸is still working today. The circumstances that Friday looked like the devil had his way BUT GOD… Grateful for Pastor @marthamunizzi who allowed us to record this and is even featured giving a strong prophetic prayer of faith! I hate to ruin the surprise, but I actually re-recorded and foleyed this entire piece. This was a fun and clever project to be a part of for @disneysprings. This song is very special and personal to us.
In December of 2016 @harleymonette was recording vocals for this very song on the “Elevation Worship Acoustic Sessions” album @elevationchurch for @elevationworship, and it just so happened to be the very first time we met each other (which is a very fun and cute story in and of itself).
I’ve been wanting to record a version of this song with Harley ever since we started dating. Now here we are, married, with a beautiful baby girl, and not only did we finally get the opportunity to record the song together, but we were also able to share the experience, worshiping with our dear friends @thecoastlinechurch. What a truly special evening it was.
How truly blessed are we that nearly 8 years ago our relationship was found in an environment of worship, and now we get to worship together within our marriage, both publicly and privately in our home as we raise Sofia. This moment cements that and it’s a real dream come true.
Harley and I are so happy to be able to share this special moment with you and we hope this song blesses you as it has for us.
