Gathering momentum.

First studio session for GDC yesterday! This session enabled us to play and share our individual movement styles. The intention of the session was to collaborate together and produce material to share with you.

We were feeling energetic and excited in the studio, and this choreography was the product of that. The music was also a big influence yesterday!

We look forward to exploring many avenues of the creation process and finding our own movement language with the rest of our collective soon!

Introducing co-director of Genesis Dance Collective, Ryan Manser.

Ryan was born in Swindon, Wiltshire and has been dancing since finding his love for the art form in secondary school.

Ryan’s dance journey officially began at Swindon Dance on the Centre for Advanced Training (CAT) contemporary programme where they had the opportunity to train and learn from some of the most renowned dance practitioners within the UK.

Whilst attending CAT, Ryan also attended New College Swindon where he gained his BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma in Dance in 2021.

Ryan then continued his dance training at Bath Spa University resulting in a BA of Arts with honours in dance. During his time on the dance course, he performed in pieces choreographed by Amy Foskett, Sam Amos, Alleyne Dance Company, Divija Melally and more.

After Graduation in 2024, Ryan chose to continue his studies in the arts by undertaking his MA in Arts Management at Bath Spa University, expected to graduate in 2026.

Ryan is now working as a freelance dance artist alongside his studies; currently for Bath School of Dance and many others. His most recent project was performing in ‘Fault Lines’ created by Lila Dance UK as part of the community cast.

Ryan has a passion for improvisational techniques. His choreographic style consists of combining contemporary release with influences of Cunningham technique.

Ryan is extremely excited to collaborate with such amazing and unique artists on the project and further expand his creative dance practice with the Genesis Dance Collective this summer.

Class of 2024!!!

Yesterday I graduated from Bath Spa University with a Bachelor's Degree with Honours in Dance!

After 3 years of hard work, a lot of emotions (stress mainly) and support from everyone around me...I OFFICIALLY HAVE A DEGREE!! 🍾 🥂 🎉 🎓 👨‍🎓

Next step is to complete my Master's Degree in Arts Management at Bath Spa University!! by @ryanmanserdance

Beyond excited to present my work as part of Third Space and @sparkfest_bath tomorrow at 5pm in the University Theatre @bathspauni

This project has been very trying at times and has become my life for the last 9 weeks, but to see the end product makes it all worth it!

Credit to all the people that have made this piece a fully realised concept and tremendous love and respect to my amazing dancers @issythesquid @mercedes_816 @lizzie.rpx
