Dear Volleyball 🏐,

Growing up as a daughter of professional basketball players, I knew by the age of 9 that basketball was life. From watching college and NBA games every week on the couch while eating dinner with my mom, who would always breakdown the game, unintentionally, while yelling at the TV. To playing for her on the best AAU team in Michigan for 5 years. It was going to be basketball and I, until the end. Until, I was told that I had to play two sports as a requirement for high school. From the first day of tryouts, you had me hooked. It didn’t matter if I wasn’t that good, or that I never played a single point in my entire life. For the first time ever, a fire lit within me, I had a passion. I quit basketball and decided at 14 that I would go wherever you took me. Although my mother wasn’t too happy about it, she grew to love you a little bit too (I think me wearing her number helped 🙃).

Mom - No words could ever explain how grateful I am that God chose you just for me. You have seen me at my highest peaks and deepest valleys. I could write a whole book about you, but I’ll keep it cute. Thank you for being my biggest supporter, showing up to EVERYTHING I’ve ever been apart of. Thank you for being my best friend, simple moments with you mean the world to me. We can always end up laughing about literally nothing. And thank you for being Ms. Make It Happen, always making a way when there seems to be no way. I love you, truly 🤍.

AAMU Volleyball - Thank you for choosing me to be a bulldog for the past 4 years. Y’all were the first school to offer me a scholarship, during COVID at that, and the first ones to take a chance on me. I wanted to go to an HBCU and you all made that dream come true for me.

Volleyball, you have been my biggest adversary, my greatest love, and my most influential teacher. Our story has come to an end, but it will forever be one of my favorite chapters. 32 out✌🏾

I’ve been passionate about nutrition since I was 14, but it was never my plan to pursue it as a career. As time went by I couldn’t shake it, I had never been so interested in a topic in my life, and the more I learned, the more I wanted to find out. Nutrition was never the plan, but it was always apart of my God given purpose to help others.

I’ve thought about the day I would get to leave Huntsville and never turn back time, and time, and time again; but as we approach truly the end of an era I can’t help but to say thank you, A&M. If I would’ve never came to A&M, I would’ve never given my life to my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. That is a gift that I will cherish forever. If 18 year old could see me now, she’d be so shocked that we became the woman I never thought I could be. I never would’ve thought that in 4 years not only would I be the woman of my own dreams but also the best version of myself mentally, emotionally, physically and spiritually, through Christ. So, thank you A&M, my experience as a bad bad bulldog has helped transform me into the best version of Ryann I’ve ever seen. I can’t wait to see what God does next 🤍❤️
