Redemption: an act of atoning for guilt, a fault, or a mistake, or the state of having atoned.

It's been 12 years since we played that festival... The biggest hard rock festival in the country. The last time we did, the band was bigger than ever; we had just dropped our sophomore record. Huge expectations coming from everywhere. Big budgets, big everything... Had a retrofitted luxury tour bus wrapped with our smug mugs on it, all the amenities, a full crew handling everything and our huge egos that barely fit in it...

But behind the scenes everything was literally falling apart...

Some major challenges were unfolding at this point, from all angles, right at the pinnacle of it all.. The ones that keep you up at night years after they pass... but this post is not about those memories... (we can save it for the Wise Memoirs. haha)

Today is about how amazing it feels to know that, after this weekend, we got another shot at the big stage...

Today is the day I reflect on once again playing one of the biggest rock shows in the country with all of the biggest names.. OTHERWISE was on that stage again...

It was such a beautiful reminder to never ever give up on what & who you believe in ... because all the years, I haven't, and this past weekend was one of the best blessings to remind me why...

This band & our music has a way of always rising from the ashes... it's like our emblem should be a Phoenix or something?! ; )

So,
Here it is, sometimes you get to feel those big moments you thought you'd never feel again...

Absolutely stoked to have played a DWP fest again.. thanks for the spicy reminder of how wild this life can be & how you never know what could happen...

I'm thankful to have played our songs with my brother, our boys & hear the Wise Ones sing back to us at a huge show with some of our greatest loved ones there to be a part of it... A Louder Than Life (By Music) moment has surely been unlocked within us for the rest of our lives... and im eternally grateful for that..

We had an unforgettable weekend playing Louder Than Life! Such a full circle moment. From playing the first ever Louder Than Life 12 years ago to be invited back after all these years was a righteous moment for us... A weekend we will never forget.

To reconnect with so many beautiful Rock N Roll souls was so damn special for us.. Our set was an absolute scorcher!!

It felt so good to rip it for all of you who came out to watch!!

Thank you to Danny Wimmer & the whole DWP team for taking such good care of us. We were honored to be there...

Our acoustic cover of “Don’t You (Forget About Me)” is OUT NOW!

This one has a little history behind it…

At the height of the lockdowns in the summer of 2020, we played a one-off show on a private sound stage at Structure Exhibits in North Las Vegas. With live music essentially shut down, we brought together a very exclusive, invite-only crowd of Las Vegas luminaries and longtime supporters of the band, while live streaming the performance to everyone watching from home.

It was a wild time. Somehow, we were one of the only bands still touring and finding ways to keep the music alive.

Now, six years later, we’re finally opening the vault and releasing a handful of tracks from that night as FROM THE ROOTS VOL. 3!

First up: our acoustic take on the Simple Minds classic “Don’t You (Forget About Me).”

15 years ago today we released this song. It changed our lives forever. Recorded in our drummer’s garage, this song was an anthem to never, ever give up on what and who you believe in. It has carried us to heights we only dreamed of getting to and it has also held us up in our darkest of times.

It has been an honor to hear the stories of how this song has affected not only our loved ones but thousands of people across the world. From cancer survivors, single parents, professional sports teams, veterans, everyday people fighting for a better life and even graduating Soldiers walking to this song at Fort Jackson, this song has truly been our anthem.

The lyrics in the bridge of this song are the inspiration behind Life By Music’s ‘Shoulder to Shoulder’, a 10 week guitar and songwriting course that has gotten guitars and music resources into the hands of hundreds of Veterans to date. We teach our warriors how to play this song along side a 90 page music curriculum that we created.

One of the most important aspects of this song, is that we’ve been able to honor and keep the memory of our late cousin, Ivan Patrick David alive. His voice is on the chants in the outro. We said this as we sang this at the graveyard, burying him in the ground, just 2 months after releasing this song, and it still holds true today. Every time we sing this song we keep him alive, hear his voice, feel his soul within the music. Remember the dream that we all shared. It’s very spiritual to feel that visceral connection.

100s of millions of streams. A gold record. Movie syncs. First song to go number 1 on Satellite Radio by an unsigned band. Tens of thousands of people have sung it back to us and even more still love it to this day.

Here is to the song that changed everything. Right when we thought all was lost…

To commemorate the 15 year anniversary of this song’s release, we have brought back the OG Soldiers T shirt design. Wear it with pride, and celebrate a song that has changed our lives.

What an absolute epic little run we had last week. It's amazing to get out there & play our songs. Hear people sing back all the words, shed tears, laugh, scream & be apart of the music with us. It really felt so good. It fired me up. Ready to do more, ready to play more, ready to kick more ass & play my six string as much as possible... Thanks to the Big Broski & The Wise Guys (and big Mike coming in as an amazing TM) We shredded boys...

I'm a very thankful & honored to be in this position to write, play, perform, share, teach & be of service through music... very fired up for all things in this beautiful Life By Music. More to come!
