MAMA MAKEUP 🖤 @mamamakeupsharon 🖤 - you’re an icon. it was an honor to be on set with you that first time and beyond what i could have dreamed back in ‘09. all the times after that felt just as magical and surreal. i’ll still think of those shoots and can’t believe how lucky i was to be a part of this beautiful tribe of creatives that i worshiped as a young artist. i loved creating art with endless supplies at our disposal. i cherished sharing stories while cleaning our kits. i can’t ever forget your hands painting me as a blue alien. thank you for the lessons. thank you for asking to have me back. thank you for believing in my artistry. rest easy sharon. i’m sending you love. - #mamamakeup #sharongault #camplachapelle #icons #artists by @rydashn

ENGAGE!26 MAUI the engage! glam lounge by @rydashn - this was a dream. i learned of engage! summits from my client/planner/friend/blessing, katie, years ago and i never thought i would be able to attend one, let alone partner with them to host luxury wedding professionals from all over the world. the opportunity presented itself and i knew i just had to do it. i also had to put aside feeling intimidated, having doubts in myself, and fears of failure. and i’m so happy i did! coming through this event let me know that i’m capable of more than i think, but that i also can’t do it alone, and sometimes that’s okay. thank you engage! for supporting local, for the inspiration, and for allowing me to head the glam lounge. i started with weddings 20+ years ago and this felt like a full circle moment in my career. sherron, katie, island events, chef lee! i’m not sure how or when my name came up, but i appreciate all of you! when i saw your names in the email thread when we started putting this together, it was a huge encouragement to know you would be involved. paul, thank you for helping me problem solve as i built this from scratch. you were a huge part of me getting through this. psa: find an analytical, engineering husband who loves to help. team! amanda, amber, cherish, flora, gio, jen, jrose, jo-ann, kym, mariane, michelle, misha, and shannon. thank you for making this possible, saying “yes”, and showing up. i was stopped so many times by our attendees that raved about you, and i’m not surprised. engage!26 maui is done, but what i took away from the experience will definitely stay with me. - #engage!26maui #engagingevents #luxuryweddings #luxurylifestyle #luxurymauistyle by @rydashn
“FORGING A SACRED WEAPON” makeup | hair | authors photo | edit @rydashn @kathyvbaldock - available on amazon and canyonwalkerconnections.com - i learned of kathy, her work as an ally and advocate, and her first book “WALKING THE BRIDGELESS CANYON” from my then boyfriend, paul, about 3.5 years ago. i read over half of her 442 pages on a flight back home from la. i couldn’t put it down and finished the rest of the book that week. i watched her in “1946: THE MISTRANSLATION THAT SHIFTED CULTURE” digging through the archives at yale. her warmth, love for others, and fight for others was evident. at some point i had the passing thought, “it would be cool if she officiated our wedding.”. i got to briefly meet kathy at the “RECONCILE & REFORM CONFERENCE” after about a year of learning who she was. paul is a longtime friend of hers (that’s another story that kathy is great at telling!) and i was excited to say hello. as we all said goodbyes on the last day of the conference, we asked if she officiates weddings. i still remember the expression on her face as she said “yes! let me know!”. about a year after that, she did. it just felt right having kathy stand with us in front of our family & friends while we got married. we asked and she agreed to do one of her famous timelines, but of the story of paul & ry-n for our guests and that was a highlight of our reception. and about a year later, she carved out time to visit me while i was on a work trip in reno. it felt like a treat to have one on one time with her while she told me about how writing her follow up book, “FORGING A SACRED WEAPON” was going and how it was almost done, so i offered shooting her headshot if she needed one. a few months later, my copy arrived in the mail. it was at my front door waiting for me on june 1st of all days, after a long day of traveling back to maui. it’s an honor to see our photo on the back cover, and even more so to read your kind words for me. thank you kathy for having me be a part of this project, saying yes, your famous timeline of paul & ry-n, your work, your fight for us, and for leading with love. #ally #advocate #leadwithlove #happypride #❤️❤️💛💚💙💜 🩵 🩷 🤍🤎🖤 by @rydashn
BRITTNEY makeup hair photo edit @rydashn - ↓STORY TIME↓ so i have tons of sample cards, vials, minis, and packets from all my makeup purchases. i wanted to test them out, but not on a client without first being familiar with the products, how they feel, how they wear, etc. i had @bbrittneybaker come over to challenge myself to do a clean makeup look using only the samples i had (no tools either) and see what would happen. this was our result. i can’t remember the specific products i used, but i’m pretty sure @danessamyricksbeauty, @gucciwestman, @yslbeauty, and @makeupforever was in the mix. i love the movement. i always love “wet” hair. and i love creating with britt. 💭 TELL ME YOUR THOUGHTS! 💭 #dewyskin #nomakeupmakeup #wethair #movement #hairwhip by @rydashn
