Looks like it’s going to be another bright and sunny Independent market day, stop by the old united reform church @risefrome if you get a chance and would like to escape the crowds for a moment.. we’ve got some really special homemade cold drinks too

All sites are open as usual today and lots of extra bread and pastry available on our market stall on Whittox lane

October sweet spesh; Pumpkin Orchard Donut

Pastry queen Gabi introduces the first Donuts in Rye bakery history.. could this be a thing? All we know at this stage is they’re a right pain to photograph!

A pillowy pumpkin brioche enriched with butter and plenty of eggs. Filled with a spiced mascarpone custard cream made with Ivy house dairy ofc. Crushed pumpkin seed brittle and a sharp apple gel are also hidden inside. Dusted in a dehydrated apple and cinnamon sugar.

These will be replacing the turnovers as the week special, but do not panic my friends the apple turnovers are a keeper… too good for just one month, we will keep them as a core product for a while X

OCTOBER BREAD SPESH

Apple, walnut and cider bread. Available at Sunday’s market then every Saturday.

Made from 100% Wholemeal Spelt flour, locally produced @coddiwomple_cider , scrumped apples, organic walnuts and a touch of molasses this loaf is a celebration of Autumn. Small, batch baked loaves that will fit in a backpack while you’re on a woodland yomp or misty morning soodle. Pairs perfectly with a sharp, crumbly cheddar and will make the base of a perfect ploughman’s.

The garden down at the cafe is enjoying the mild weather, it’s a wonderfully calm spot and perfect for a lunch date..

With Laura @foodwithfolk stepping into a leading role this month, you can expect new simple and seasonal dishes on the menu. Gorgeous Somerset Salad with beetroot & Cavolo Nero this weekend.. Pork & Beef meatballs.. and plenty more

We are very excited to eat some Wye Valley Smoked Kippers in the coming weeks, nestled on our $60 Rye bread perhaps?

But the real talk of the town has to be @obarratt hogs pudding.. a soft breakfast sausage for the people, with Laura’s perfect remoulade… some apple and mustard o.m.g.

If you walk down to the station today..

Mushroom season is well and truly with us and we have crates of beautiful Porcini in the kitchen from the Beech forests of Longleat down the road. Everyone’s favourite bitter green aka Friarelli aka Cime Di Rapa is back with some fine Sausage from sausage Maestro mr Barratt who has famous pork ragu back on the silly sausage this week which is quite seriously good so go get one tonight or tomorrow

Full bread line up for the Sunday market.. Lots of nutritious wholegrain and naturally fermented loaves using locally grown cereals, much of which we mill in house.. Have you tried our Sprouted and Malted Rye? Perfect to fuel your Autumnal walks and keeps for ages… Though it never lasts long on our bread boards 🍞

Lots of amazing producers around today hope it’s a good days trading for everyone.. looks like a super sunny one ☀️

Morning..

Big Saturday bake and pastries looking fine this morning.. It’s the big market tomorrow and the weathers looking bright. We’ve got Apple & Greengage turnovers & Plum Crumble buns on spesh! Plus classic banger the Cheese & Mustard twists.. like cheese straws, like elevated yeah @obarratt ?

We are looking for a person who is passionate about hospitality, wine and excellence.

Part-time and full-time roles
Evenings and weekends: Wednesday-Saturday
Experience required
Wages based on experience and position offered

You will be working as part of a small team led by Jack and Paris - sommeliers and winemakers with a collective 50 years experience in the hospitality industry.

Wine and drinks training will be a daily occurrence + extra training/tastings
20% discount on all retail across Rye Wine Bar and Bakery
Support with working grape/apple harvest in UK or abroad
Other industry relevant trips and training offered
