“Blue Note”

Been high up over mountains
Knocked down and cut loose
I been lost and found
I was not prepared for you
Stuck here craving
What I could not get
It’s all a bad dream that
We were bound to live

Half note there arrested
Like tulips unmatched
Shining bright for a time
A blue note fallen flat
Took off my smart watch
No need to track
A mind that’s locked away
Guitar left on the stand

Gave up sin and redemption
My mind’s awake again
If this ship goes to port
Or the ocean floor
I’ll be there to sing you in
I’ll be there
Oh, I’ll be there
I’ll be there to sing you in

My whole body aches
I can’t sleep through the night
Lay my head down
These thoughts run through my mind
Muse showed up unannounced
Then left without fussing about
Intentions, hurt feelings
Or if we’d meet again

Gave up sin and redemption
My mind’s awake again
If this ship goes to port
Or the ocean floor
I’ll be there to sing you in
I’ll be there
Oh, I’ll be there
I’ll be there to sing you in

What are you gonna say?
When it ends and the joy was the journey all along?
What are you gonna do?
When you’re done and the pain ain’t gone?

I’ll be there
Oh, I’ll be there
I’ll be there to sing you in

They automate the journey
But I saw you coming through
I been lost and found
I was not prepared for you

Gave up sin and redemption
My mind’s awake again
If this ship goes to port
Or the ocean floor
I’ll be there to sing you in
I’ll be there
Oh, I’ll be there

Just me and @mrphysk learning how to fly fish. He is a little sensitive and reported me on Instagram for commenting on his post. Got his feelings hurt because I am a better fisherman than him. by @ryfi3000

“Honey Bee”

1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7 days I’ve been alone
Headed to the corner store. You know I’m looking for some
Discussion with the girl who was doing kick flips by the curb
Her scuffed up vans are checkered with killer bright orange flames
Like the past I’m running from and hoping to escape
Prison ain’t no joke. I had a friend who wound up there
It’s time to buzz along now honey bee.
Head west of anywhere

Got transfixed by graffiti murals painted on the wall
Outside of Memphis where the King once had a ball
Weighed down by barbecue and moody blues
Morning springs. It’s just grey. The pitter patter of the rain
Gotta take the dog for a walk. Chalk lines walled all around
Memories faded. My ears ringing loud
It’s time to buzz along now honey bee
Head west of anywhere

Round and round the record goes. Clears cobwebs from my mind
Hazy the perspective that comes from a lifetime
Of chasing all my muses wherever they do go
Miss my mama’s cooking and weekend cartoons
There’s nothing like the freedom of a Friday afternoon
Might find a food truck and a local arcade by @ryfi3000

“This Broken Man”

The sun is up
Things are underway
But my feet won’t move & my face is blank today
I guess I’m just here
Looking For a reason
To get back up and pull my weight again

Each day bleeds
Itself into the next
I can barely breath & these waves are overhead
Time won’t stop
Even when you’re overwhelmed
Why cry out when no one’s there to help

Where were you when I called out in the dark
Your silence was tearing me apart
Picked myself up once. I’ll do that shit again
Gather up the pieces to fix this broken man

Come sit on this ash heap
Next to mine
See if you can bear the weight this time
Your arms were open wide
Your mouth was full of lies
I’ll be goddamned if I’m embracing you this time

Where were you when I called out in the dark
Your silence was tearing me apart
Picked myself up once. I’ll do that shit again
Gather up the pieces and fix this broken man

You had your arms around unspoken
Screams to be let go
Goddamn you if there was purpose in it all

Where were you when I called out in the dark
Your silence was tearing me apart
Picked myself up once. I’ll do that shit again
Gather up the pieces and fix this broken man by @ryfi3000

A clip from ???? - no title yet for this one. It’s a fun time song I wrote tonight for a song writing competition. My prompt was “dancing in the living room.”

Sun’s out, guns out
Have a good time, we’ll show you how
To find a little piece of heaven
Crank up the bass, play that tune
Shake your ass in the living room
Cutting loose is the key to living
Yeah cutting loose is the key to living

Life is more than all that you’ve got to do
Work for the man, hope to make it through
We got just one shot for all that this could be
So perk up your ears and listen to me

Sun’s out, guns out
Have a good time, we’ll show you how
To find a little piece of heaven
Crank up the bass, play that tune
Shake your ass in the living room
Cutting loose is the key to living
Yeah cutting loose is the key to living

We’ve got so many choices we can make
To find the moments that make each day great
Colors of a rainbow, the sounds of the sea
A big bright sunflower is enough for me

Sun’s out, guns out
Have a good time, we’ll show you how
To find a little piece of heaven
Crank up the bass, play that tune
Shake your ass in the living room
Cutting loose is the key to living
Yeah cutting loose is the key to living

Raise your voices now, sing that song
Dance to the beat all night long
We got a little piece of heaven by @ryfi3000
