Next thing I knew, I had a little DrakeNier collection…. Since playing Automata in 2017, I bought Nier about 2 years ago and then Drakengard 3 last year. Haven’t played either yet though lol. After seeing others’ Nier Replicant posts and picking it up myself last week, I realized I had a little collection going. What collections did you build stealthily (or not) over time after playing a newer title?

Fun fact: my book shelf did not make the move with me in November so all of the games I’m not playing are still boxed. It’s kind of a pain to find them for pics lol. by @rygarde

A little stack of the physical games I’ve picked up in recent months. Missing is Drakengard 3 which I forgot lol.

Of these I’ve only played the PS4 games. I’m almost at the end of the first dungeon in P5S and nearing the end of Bloodborne. I think I’m about 70% done and having a great time with it. I beat Yakuza 7 a few weeks ago and it has an incredible story that I’m still processing after that ending. My only gripe with the game is that it makes you have to grind before you reach the end game. It’s not held back by it though which speaks to how great the other elements of the game are. But seriously, please bring me more JRPGs with an older cast and modern humor. I love how over-the-top Yakuza games are and Yakuza 7 does not disappoint.

What games have you picked up recently? Where are my Nier Replicant enjoyers at? That will probably be my new pickup. 😎 by @rygarde

I haven’t posted in almost a year but here’s a recent pickup, one of not too many. How have you guys been??

Things very different for me compared to last year. After graduating from grad school I struggled to find a permanent job. I had 2 part-time jobs in 2 months only one of which was in my field (school psychologist). I put in around 40 applications in Southern California (where I went to grad school and grew up) and only got a substitute position after 4 interviews. Then I applied to a single employer in Northern California and was offered a job the day after my interview. So I moved 400 miles north in November and am now in a long distance relationship which has been challenging but is going pretty well. I really didn’t want to move as it was my 10th move in 10 years but I needed a full-time job but here we are. So far it’s not bad. My colleagues really worked hard to make it a smooth transition for me and I’m slowly getting more organized. Anyway, I don’t want to ramble for too long lol. The Outer Worlds is another recent summer pickup for me and what I plan to play after completing Spider-Man. I’m thoroughly enjoying it and halfway through the base game. I was impressed and still find myself loving webslinging through the city. I felt like I had so much power in my heads when I took control in the first few minutes of the game. Combat is a struggle because I’m so used to Dark Souls’ slow pace but I’m getting better lol. I also bought FFXIV on PC a couple days ago and have been enjoying that a bit.

What’s that one game you’ve been itching to play but haven’t started yet for some reason? Radiant Historia Perfect Chronology is my pick! I just can’t pick it up because I want to clear my backlog a bit more lol. The other games here are also in my backlog and need to be played at some point. Once I finish Tales of Berseria I plan to start this game and another PS4 exclusive I’ve put off for a little while. 😁

Haven’t been buying too many new games lately since I’m not working but here’s a recent pickup for my Switch indie collection. 😎

What have you guys been up to during the new summer/winter season? I haven’t been too motivated to post but I’ve got a few in the works. Hope you all have been well. With my free time, aside from playing the living shit out of Dark Souls 3, I’ve been playing a little Bloodborne and plugging away at Tales of Berseria. I’m nearing the end and love the heck out of the cast. The story is great too. Lastly, I’ve been improving my skateboarding skills! I’ve been going weekly with some friends from school the past couple of weeks along with at least 2 sessions on my own during the week. I’ve been really enjoying it. 😊

So glad this came to the Switch because I had totally left it behind on my Wii U. I’m about 6 hours in and finally where I left off on Wii U and enjoying the improvements. The story is coming into its own slowly but it’s still enjoyable. Sadly I had forgotten everything after leaving Colony 9 up to Gaur Plains. I’m still impressed with the environments I’ve visited so far because it’s hard to believe this was a Wii game! Aside from this, I’m addicted to Monster Hunter World again and not making backlog progress anymore. 😅 What did you guys play this weekend?

My newest game that I treated myself to after a price drop! These last few weeks have been busy. Completing internship requirements, graduating with no ceremony, applying for jobs, celebrating my partner’s birthday. I might treat myself to another game or two for my graduation. 😎✌🏽 Also, thank you to those that continue to tag me in your awesome posts.

“There’s a lesson in every death.” If I could sum up Dark Souls in 1 sentence, that would be it. The deep character customization, tight mechanics, and rich lore of Dark Souls is great but what really got me addicted to the game is the idea that learning from every death was the same as making progress. Each time I came back the lesson learned could be put to use which was extremely rewarding when it paid off. I haven’t been addicted to a game this hard since Fire Emblem Three Houses (not pictured due to uniformity) but before that were Monster Hunter World and Horizon Zero Dawn.

In the beginning (I started this game over a year ago 😅) this game was way harder than it needed to be because I was completing zones way out of order for level scaling. I was also using a weapon at a friend’s recommendation well beyond its usefulness compared to better weapons toward the end game. Once I joined the bosses in the “I can hit hard too” club, the game became fun and I dare say easy... lol except the final boss. He was rightfully difficult.

Anyway, I’m graduating from grad school in less than 2 weeks and it doesn’t feel real! The lack of a proper graduation ceremony isn’t helping things either. I’m happy for the opportunity to go through my program nonetheless even with all the inconveniences and headaches over 3 long years. 🙌🏽
.
Now I’m debating whether I should play Dark Souls 2 next or skip to 3 like a couple of friends have recommended....

When Atlus releases a special or collector’s edition ATLUS DE👏🏽LI👏🏽VERS👏🏽! This Phantom Thieves Edition is gorgeous! Since I only bought the original P5 on a whim a couple of weeks before release I missed out on the CE for that game so I wasn’t going to pass this one up! Also, the new song that plays with the dynamic theme is legit! I love it. Since I haven’t been following details on P5R I will he surprised by things such as the new song. Can’t wait to experience this game anew whenever I get around to it lol. Changing the world has never been so stylish. 😎

I unboxed this yesterday when my gf was visiting and she was almost as thrilled with the goodies in this edition as I was. She really appreciated the detail in the art book and mask. Then that led to me showing off all my other CEs and LEs which she was curious about. She happily listened to all my stories and said it would be cool if I had a room to display all of them in. What a keeper!

Whaaat? I’m actually posting! Don’t mind the date this was taken. I’ve been lazy! 😂 But damn, am I having way more fun playing Animal Crossing than I thought I would! I only bought it because my gf bought a Switch and the game so I figured I’d play with her. Also, this game couldn’t have come out at a better time given what’s happening in the world right now.

I know these are some challenging times. It comes with a lot of stress and anxiety due to great uncertainty. I hope everyone is hanging in there. I feel like many of us gamers are better prepared for long periods of staying in but I know it can still cause some distress. For that reason, find some time to enjoy a new or different hobby, [safely] find a way to get fresh air while while practicing social distancing, and reach out to your friends and loved ones. I know there’s a meme that I love about introverts (like me) checking in with their extrovert friends. Haha but seriously play some games online or video chat with the people you care about. Self-care is key! We will get through these tough times together. I’m here to chat if anyone needs it. 😊 Or you could just tell me what your favorite quarantine game is in the comments! Mine are Animal Crossing New Horizons and Fire Emblem Three Houses. 😎
