This one put a HUGE smile on my face.

Saturday, Gators MTB hosted a Pelotonia Kids event as part of an exciting new chapter this year: COMBO is helping bring the first-ever mountain bike ride to Pelotonia….and this may have been the best Gators event yet!

The mission of Gators is pretty simple: get kids off screens and onto bikes and the best way to do that? Show them just how much fun you can have on a bike.

No one is doing that better than Gators.

Principals dressed like barbarians. A sprinkler fed by a fire hydrant. A full-on beach party with junior coaches throwing beach balls. Our NICA GRiT squad pumpin out bubbles, a foam tunnel donated by SuperGames. And more than 200 kids riding bikes, laughing with friends and raising over $20,000 for pediatric cancer research.

It was wonderfully ridiculous. Bike culture is positive, collaborative and welcoming. You have fun. You find your people. And somewhere along the way, you realize this community can make a pretty incredible impact.

Saturday was all of that rolled into one.

Get a bike. Go ride with friends. Make an impact by @ryhughes

Pretty proud of @sarajabele for saying yes to a scary thing. Big shoulders swim in Lake Michigan with cousins and friends. I am mostly thankful they didn’t ask me. I would’ve been terrified :-) Sara, @syd.hutch, Joe and his mom Ann had a blast out there. Followed up by a day of sailing with @kendallmary17 . Pretty amazing weekend, watching my wife kick ass and getting to hang out with family! by @ryhughes

Last night, I had the opportunity to step on stage with some good friends to play some music and raise some money for @pelotonia. I’m super proud that COMBO has been able to help add mountain biking to grow the impact. My overwhelming feeling today was about how grateful I am for a community that shows up. This party was to benefit four peloton’s; @combomtb , @gators_bike_park , @lostinthewoods.alumcreek and People Who Like Wendell. Mountain bikers are known for giving back. Majority of the trails that are on the ground right now happened because they were built by volunteers by hand because they wanted to give trails to the community. Tonight they got to turn that same generosity towards funding cancer research. Stepping on stage and singing in front of 150 friends is a pretty nerve-racking experience, but I can’t think of a friendly crowd to stand up in front of and alongside as we raise money for Pelotonia. You also know him as COMBO's Executive Director, and one of the very talented members of the Dad Band, Gator's Underground that is performing at our BIKES, BANDS, BURGERS, & BEERS Fundraising event happening TONIGHT!

Ryan has been a part of Pelotonia since it's very first ride in 2009 and now has a hand in the very first MOUNTAIN BIKING ride. Talk about dedication!

1st day of school pics. Both girls are now the oldest in their respective schools. Paige in 5th and Caroline in 8th. Paige got home and reported that she was dissapointed that,”it was just first day stuff. I didn’t even get to learn anything.” Hilarious. by @ryhughes

A great way to celebrate another trip around the sun. Weekend with my siblings and then a birthday ride back home with friends. Sara made me my favorite cake, carrot cake and the kids got me some hilarious and heartfelt gifts. Sitting down on the couch with a happy heart by @ryhughes

Incredible weekend with my sibs watching the US take on Australia + bike & boat rides with my niece & nephew. Now headed home for Father’s Day dinner and a birthday tomorrow. Can someone fix the weather on Monday? It’s messing with my ride plans! by @ryhughes

I never thought I would say the sentence, “I’m taking my family on vacation to Arkansas.“ I was personally and professionally blown away. Any good trip comes down to the people we are with and we had an awesome crew but this place could’ve delivered an incredible time under a lot of circumstances. We had the good fortune of getting to spend a day with Erin Rushing, former CEO of their trail building organization who gave us a 5hr tour to learn about what they built, how they built it and the lessons they’ve learned. This is the most imaginative use of wealth that I have witnessed. The development of these recreational assets have transformed this corner of Arkansas. Over 100 miles of mountain bike trails accessible from downtown and 600 miles in the region. The kids did a mountain bike camp in the mornings which gave the adults a chance to explore the trails. We got to do a clinic with a former World Cup champion, Anneke Beerton, and we got to preview the OZ trails bike park a week before it opened to the public. The kids had an absolute blast on the trails and playing in the lake in the afternoon. It’s taking me over a week to contextualize the experience. I visited Arkansas on a work trip in 2004 and let me tell you, it is not the same place. We will be back! by @ryhughes

Planned a spontaneous getaway weekend + Wife who has kicked ass at Net Jets for over 20 years + some seriously good luck = extra fun spontaneous getaway. Had never been to Connecticut and we landed in a pretty incredible spot Mystic, CT and we had a great time. This was a well timed reminder about the fun that only comes from spontaneity. by @ryhughes

I spent several months saying I didn’t want to do this. This is how you know you have good friends. They talk you into fun adventures. 30 mile mountain bike race hosted at a trail system just above the site of the 96 Olympic Whitewater event venue. Incredible landscape and super fun day on a bike. by @ryhughes
