Your name just has to be Ryan, and you automatically have friends.” — Ryan

Aloha to all the Ryans! Thanks for landing here for this conversation. In this episode, we meet Ryan Jewell from the Ryan Meetup, a community of Ryans from around the country. What started as a lighthearted idea in Brooklyn, NY years ago has grown into an fun, inclusive movement: Ryans are finding friendship and connection simply because they share a name. Ryan shares what it’s like to be a girl named Ryan and how she found her place in this growing community. She also shares her unexpected cancer journey and how Ryans she had never met showed up for her with kindness, care packages, and encouragement. We talk about friendship, finding your people, and creating fun and safe spaces where everyone can connect as humans. Ryan also shares how the empathy she found in this community has changed the way she sees people who may not share the same beliefs, backgrounds, or perspectives. Thanks for tuning in!

I don’t know what to write right now so I will just state the one thing I know to be true -

I love you with my whole heart, forever. Rest easy my basque sissy. 💔

I love you x infinity. by @ryjewell13

Last week, an unimaginable horror happened in a town my sister and I grew up visiting our nana in, and my sister, brother-in-law, niece and nephew now call their home. My second home, because the kids own my heart.

And now, those kids that I love so damn deeply have to process how other kids are dead. How it could’ve been them. It could have been their class, their teacher, their best friend. “Will they stay dead?” is something my nephew asked this week. About KIDS. About KIDS like HIM that can’t run, and can’t hide. And now, they must go back to school just one week later. News cycles will move on to something else, but this will live with Bend forever.

Children can’t keep dying due to guns. This is not an invitation to debate because for me, there is no debate. Pray for Silver Rail, pray for Bend; see you at the polls. by @ryjewell13
