POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

This Domestic Violence Awareness Month, I’m sharing a part of my story that means more to me than words can explain. 🤍

As a survivor of domestic violence, one of the hardest parts wasn’t only what I went through. It was the fear of being blamed, the fear of being judged, and how those fears made me isolate myself when I needed support the most.

No survivor should ever feel ashamed of what someone else chose to do to them. Nobody should have to suffer in silence because they’re afraid they won’t be believed.

There was a time when I genuinely didn’t think I’d make it to middle school. Then I made it to high school. Now I’m preparing to begin a career in substance abuse counseling and social work, hoping to help people who are struggling and support survivors who may feel as alone as I once did.

If you told the younger version of me that this would be my future, I don’t think I would’ve believed you.

I’m sharing my story because I know what it feels like to be afraid of judgment. I don’t want another survivor to feel they have to disappear into their pain because they’re scared of being blamed.

You don’t owe anyone an explanation for why you stayed, why you left, or why healing takes time. What happened to you was not your fault. You deserve safety, compassion, and support. 🤍

I’m turning my experience into action because I want others to know they aren’t alone. Please share this post, spread awareness, and help connect survivors with support.

I once struggled to imagine a future for myself. Now I’m working toward a future where I can help someone else see one, too. 💜
