A year ago today, i made a decision to seek help for my mental health. I didn’t think i would live to see 18, and i am now happier and healthier than ever!

I am officially one year free of self harm.
I have survived suicide.
I have survived suicidal thoughts.
I have survived the worst of myself.

I want to say thank you to my parents for sitting beside me the morning after it happened in silence while we ate breakfast, speaking of their support without words.

I want to say thank you to my boyfriend for pushing me to get help, for giving me the ultimatum i needed to realize that the issue was beyond just myself.

I want to say thank you to my AMAZING therapist who has helped me work through the worst of myself.

I want to say thank you to the girl who held my hand that night while i called my mom. Our friendship may have came to an end, but that small gesture meant more to me than she will ever know; it saved my life.

Lastly, i want to say thank you to the Lord for being intentional with my healing process and holding my hand every. single. step. God always has a plan and is near those broken in spirit. Seek Him, He loves you. by @ryleighbattless
