So honored to be a finalist for Contemporary Album of the Year for the 2025 NĀ HŌKŪ HANOHANO AWARDS To be in the same category as @kalaemusic and @kennytagavilla is so humbling to say the least. Their music and character has inspired me since the day we met. When I wrote this song I was heavily inspired by the golden era of songwriting, the 60's and 70's Definitely not trying to compare this to those of the greats, but I'm sure you can hear Bob Dylan's influence in there 😜A lot of times the music was simple, but the stories they told weren'tLyrics that painted pictures of beautiful moments in life, and the moment I tried to capture was of an old man just trying to pass down his knowledge to anyone who'd listenSimple, but I'm sure every single one of you has someone like that in your life that you just thought ofI'm proud of the music scene in Hawai'i, and to submit something to the Nā Hōkū Hanohanos is a huge honor in itself.
