Happy 11th Birthday to my boy Milk!! The best damn dog in the universe!! This little nugget has brought me so much joy over the last decade. I got him when I was a producer at Litton Entertainment. Everyone in the office was involved in his adoption. I posted several pictures of potential candidates in my office and everyone came in and voted for their favorite. Milk did not in fact get the most votes. A little Brussels Griffon did. When I went to meet the Brussels we had zero connection. Reluctantly I went to meet Milk and instantly we connected. The adoption team @tailsofthecityrescue said that was odd because he didn’t like men! Save your snide jokes…he chose me! And what a lucky guy I am that I was the chosen one. He loves his many friends, Malibu, belly rubs, marking every tree in West Hollywood, long walks, pizza crust and lots of carrots and chicken jerky. He tolerates but does not like haircuts, costumes and hour long photo shoots. Happy Birthday Milky!!! 🥛 🐩 by @ryryblack

Bob Mackie, Cher and Elizabeth Courtney. For a short time in the early 2000’s I styled a very wealthy business woman looking for a gown for her Gatsby style birthday party and a 60’s style gown for another themed party. I was able to pull a few gowns from Bob Mackie’s archive at EC2 costumes because my friend Worthie ( Momma ) worked there. EC stood for Elizabeth Courtney who was a legendary designer, tailor and constructor of many famous gowns including the Marilyn / Kennedy dress that Bob sketched for designer Jean Louis and that started his relationship with her and really Bob’s career. She went on to oversee construction of Bob’s works. It wasn’t lost on me that I was surrounded by genius. The warehouse was a treasure trove full of many of the costumes he designed for Carol Burnett, Cher, Dolly and the list goes on a mile long. You can imagine the biggest disco ball of gowns glimmering at every turn. I may or may not have slipped a few on. Bob & his partner Ray were often there and it was always thrilling and fun to go there. So much so I’d make up excuses just to go pull costumes years after. Hands all the way up to the inimitable visionary’s name that became an adjective for style and the man who was one of one, Bob Mackie. 🫶🫶🫶🙌🙌🙌 by @ryryblack

10 Year Anniversary! 10 years ago this handsome guy stole my heart. There’s no telling why one captures a part of you that you didn’t know was missing, but like a key to a lock it opens to life’s many treasures. Adventures around the world, highs, lows, ups, downs and side by side on this roller coaster he’s remained gentle and kind and supportive and caring and patient and loving and he lets me be 100% me (unfortunately for him).
