🌟All-State Student Spotlight🌟

❔Who inspires your playing right now?

I’m inspired by musicians like Ryan Kisor and Wynton Marsalis. I’m also grateful to my teachers and the musicians I get to play alongside. Being around talented players reminds me to stay humble and keep learning.

❔Favorite jazz artist?

My favorite jazz artist is Ryan Kisor. I admire his expressiveness and lyricism, along with the strength and control to lead a section. As lead trumpet player for the Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra, he demonstrates a strong balance of musicality and leadership.

❔What does making All-State mean to you?

Making All-State is an honor. It’s rewarding to see my preparation pay off, but I also know it’s just part of the bigger picture, and there’s still more work ahead.

❔Advice for musicians auditioning next year?

Set high goals and stay disciplined in your preparation. Pay attention to the details, practice consistently, and trust that steady effort over time will make a difference. taken in San Antonio, Texas by @ryssjazz
