29 🥳🎉 & feeling…well truthfully not fine, guess it’s time for a realness post.

After 11 years of doing it consistently it’s time for me to take a prolonged break from the DJing & the Radio side of R-YZ. Slyly I wanted to step away a couple years ago for multiple reasons. Been forcing myself through it because I felt I HAD to build a ‘legacy’ but frankly….my hearts not in it and it shows 🤷‍♂️

For years I have let R-YZ duties consume my personal life negatively. Every decision started coming down to “how would this affect my music ting” even romantically. Which encouraged my avoidant traits with me being distant and losing people and opportunities in my life outside of music, and now feeling more empty than ever.
On top of that my communication avoidant traits actually creeped into R-YZ….my DM’s have piled up into ridiculous numbers and I know my lacklustre or no replies for ages may have rubbed people off the wrong way. If a DJ doesn’t keep in contact with Producers & MC’s in the scene, then no matter how technically gifted they are at mixing & selection then they are not a good Radio DJ and I know that.

DJing in the modern landscape is an extroverted role…but I’ve always been an introvert thats forced myself to be an extrovert. This is incredibly tiring for me. One outside R-YZ appearance now can lead to days of me being solitary from EVERYTHING after for my nervous system to regulate. This pattern of behaviour is not sustainable & with my mental health already being in the gutter + childhood traumas resurfacing, DJing went from my personal therapy to deal with that to something that adds more strain to it.

There are many more reasons I could speak about but this post would go on forever. I wanna thank every Producer, MC & Artist that’s sent me their tracks or been on sets with me. Every DJ that has gone B2B and anyone that locks in to my show or listens to my sets, I’m super grateful for all of you. Lastly I’m gonna carry on my radio show till the end of this month as well as the bookings I have for this month. After that well you will hear some R-YZ productions out here for the next couple years until I pick up DJing again (If I do) by @ryz_dj

ANNOUNCEMENT 2/2 OF THIS MONTH🚨
Proud to announce that I will be joining the @croydonfm family. Catch me on the airwaves bringing you Grimey Hours EVERY Saturday 6-8 PM & my first show is TOMORROW! 🔒

I’ve got massive love and admiration for this station and what they do. As a CR resident since I was 13 (Big up Mitcham) as well as my 9-5 being in Croydon, it has always made sense to me to be on a station down here! Also a full circle moment as my love for radio 📻 & Grime truly developed in my teenage years living in Pollards Hill. I’m excited to bring my flavours and mixing stylee of music in the 140 realm to their airwaves 🔊

First couple shows I will be rolling solo as I get to grips with my new home and FM/DAB radio and it’s practises. Then I will be having guests and firstly those will be….DJ’s! It’s Guest Mix & B2B season 🎧👀
