Rezo Glonti — Subtropics

Georgian artist Rezo Glonti's @rzglnt debut on Muscut is the label's first take on far Eastern Europe. “Subtropics” was made during sea voyages between subtropical ports. Delicate sound design and ambient experimentations manifest themselves as an audio excursion of the Black Sea region. Currently, Tbilisi-based Glonti has several albums and EPs under the name and the moniker “Aux Field".

I made this Max/MSP patch a couple of years ago. It’s a simple but very useful tool with a semi-generative approach. It combines a sampler, a couple of oscillators (including a noise generator), and the macOS internal MIDI synth. Later, I added a delay plugin from Max, but everything else is built from scratch. I still use it sometimes for textural and sound design work.
Will delete later :)

Rezo Glonti - Avoiding Traps
catalog # LOWFUZZ001

Low Fuzz is proudly debuting with Avoiding Traps [lowfuzz001], an album by Georgian musical auteur Rezo Glonti. Created using only Max/MSP and the Soviet-era LOMO MKE-100 microphone, this work marks a departure from Glonti’s traditional approach to sound. Filled with subtle yet unconventional ambient shifts, each track weaves tranquil textures, flavored with vocoder and vocal-driven sound design.

Protests against an oppressive and illegitimate government continue across Georgia for the 11th day. by @rzglnt

It’s with mixed feelings that I share that Low Fuzz has officially launched as an independent record label.
Rezo Glonti’s LP "Avoiding Traps" (Lowfuzz001), is here, pressed and ready with more exciting projects on the horizon!
Right now, I’m in Berlin and I’ve spent the past month waiting to pick up the copies after a slight delay at the pressing plant. Unfortunately, the timing has been tricky- I’m heading back to Tbilisi in just two days. Sadly, this has left me with no time to distribute the records personally before I leave. Without a distributor handling the release, I’ll be taking all 300 copies back with me.
>>For our friends and supporters in Berlin, you can meet me directly to pick up a copy or two. >>For those in the UK and across Europe, you can order now through our Bandcamp page and I’ll ship directly.
>>For a limited time, the digital version is available as”name your price” (0.50 cent) on Bandcamp. This is not about making anyone rich. In fact, I don’t even pay the artist. We’ve done this absolutely bankrupt but with pure enthusiasm. Any income from this release is simply a small investment toward future projects.
>>For those who can’t afford the record, but would love to have it, lmk —it’s free for you <3
>>For my Georgian friends, feel free to reserve a copy, and I’ll bring it back to Tbilisi, sparing you the extra shipping costs.
!> At the same time, my heart and mind are overwhelmed by what’s happening back home in Georgia, where demonstrations against political injustice are escalating and cops are bloodthirsty beating people to death. It feels strange to share news about my label when so many people are fighting for freedom on the streets of Tbilisi.
That said, I can’t fully focus on this milestone for Low Fuzz because my heart is with my people.
It feels strange to post about my label in such a moment. I’m sharing this now, not to distract from the movement, but because I hope those who connect with my vision and this music can lend their support by purchasing a copy - will truly help ease the pressure as I navigate these complicated times.
