I’ve always been modest and humble, but for once I’m going to be a little cocky. Let’s be real, when it comes to this HBCU twirling thing…I am him, have always been him, and will forever be him🥱 To the Marching Force, Fun fact, I didn’t plan on twirling in college. In fact, I already had my batons up for sale after high school, because I just knew that there was no way I was going to be able to twirl at the capacity that I wanted to on a collegiate level, let alone at an HBCU. My big, Mahari, told me to come to admitted students day and she said, “just go talk to Dr. Jones.” She introduced me to Coach T, who then sent me to his office. The first thing Dr. Jones said was, “Do you have any videos of yourself because I can’t find anything on you, and we’ve never had a male, it hasn’t been done before, but I’ll let you try out and we’ll just go from there.” Fast forward to August 15th of 2020 and I did a virtual zoom audition, within about 30 minutes, I was welcomed to the Force as the first male twirler at Hampton since they even brought back twirlers. So, thank you Marching Force for accepting me and allowing me to share my talents with the world, and giving me many amazing memories and experiences that I will forever hold dear to my heart. AHOY!💙 To Shimmering Sapphire Elegance, You guys are really my sisters for life and I’m so grateful that you guys took me in as your first brother🥹 It’s a little bittersweet that my journey has ended, but I am so excited to see how you guys will evolve without me. One thing we’ve always emphasized about our team was that we were all strong individually, but once you put us all together, ugh, there was no stopping us. We truly are the best HBCU twirling team out here and no one can ever say otherwise💅🏾 It takes an elegant twirler to be apart of the force, and I’m proud to say that I believe that I left my legacy on our team for everyone to remember. S.S.EEEEE💕🩵 To other little boys that look like me, Know that there are people who will accept you and allow you to shine your light bright! Don’t ever stop at “NO,” and don’t ever allow anyone to try and put you in a box. You are great, and all it takes is one “YES!”🖤 by @s._imi
Let me first start off by saying that I in fact DO know everything, and I have a degree to prove it🥱 To Hampton University, Thank you. Starting college off online wasn’t the easiest thing in the world, but I’m blessed to be able to say that I made it through. Thank you for all of the lifelong friends that you gave me and all of the many experiences that helped shape me into the man that I am today. There were many lessons that college taught me, and I’m grateful that I’m able to take each and every one of them with me as I continue to embark on this journey called life. I will forever have a special place in my heart with Hamptons’ name on it, and I am proud to say that at the age of 21, in just 3 days, this Sunday, May 12, 2024, at 10:00 am, Simi is graduating from the ILLUSTRIOUS, ONE, and ONLY, REAL HU, Hampton University, with a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Biology with a concentration in Pre-Medicine💙⚓️ -8x Deans List Recipient -Graduating Cum Laude -L.D.
