POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

My ‘pen name’ is Steve Deltanis, author of the upcoming Series: Archives of the Celestial Weave. The opening book is near 1st draft completion; Book I: Mark of the Deathwalker.

On March 17th, 2018 this book started on little more than two sentences and a vivid dream I couldn’t shake from my head. Now here in July of 2025, we are on the cusp of wrapping up the draft in what will become over a 900+ page novel (First of many books to come)!

To say it’s something wild, is an understatement. I’ve spent years crafting this world. Balancing the trials of work, life, and of course the glorious adventures of climbing and writing. This project is all about:

In a world surrounded in medieval pagan fantasy, lives become threads in a vast, interwoven tapestry; the grand weave of life. Follow their journeys as stories converge across time: A father seeks a cure his daughter’s terminal illness, a young man defies the powers that bind him, and the lost stand before the pyres of rebirth to be reborn.

From RPG elements to a plethora of characters to read through, my greatest influences stem from Guild Wars, Stormlight Archives, and A song of Ice and Fire, so if you enjoyed any of that, you’re in for a treat!

I have a lot of exciting updates to share soon, as the next phase of this quest begins! If you’d like to see behind-the-scenes work of what is going into this massive project: an interactive audiobook with multiple voices, foley work, and music. A beautiful hardcover canvas edition, mapmaking, writing sessions, and much more! Then stick around, for there are great things coming ⚔️

Book 1: Mark of the Deathwalker
Series: Archives of the Celestial Weave

Disclaimer: Every aspect of my writing is AI free, my words are my own and I intend to keep it that way. That being said, I’m no artist, and I’m using ChatGPT’s image abilities to create concept images from my descriptions so I can visually share what I’m working on. I would love to work with artists to bring these concepts to life, once the 1st draft is complete!

After two years of being stuck in the V8 range, the day has finally come go break into @island_rock_gym V9s. This beautiful boulder was the perfect calling, all the pinches and slopers for days, and not a damn crimp in sight 😀This was the most I've invested myself into a project in a long time, and it was super satisfying to slap those slopers finally! It may be a V9- but this is definitely the beginning of more to come!
Thank you @_amateur.climber_ for the inspiration boost and 📸
Also @sir.fallsalot for the many many many recordings on the attempts 🤣
And everyone that brushed the heck out of this route between each burn 🔥

After many, many comps I finally podiumed for the first time - placing #2 of #61 in the intermediate category at @brooklynboulderingproject Boulderfest! The routes were fantastic, the setup was great, overall a great day, and glad to see the gains paying off post injury recovery - especially being only 13 burns from 1st! It felt amazing to send the entire set in the category, even with that monstrous #22 ending! As fate would have it, there were no prizes for podium 😭, so the quest for victory gains continues! Game on!

Chapter 47 is a chapter I've been waiting to add to the draft roster for years now. This scene paints a picture of two realms coming together. A symbol of hope embodied in a child. Little does little Alesia realize, her mother began building that bridge for her many cycles ago.

I one day hope to have an artist bring this scene to life, for now, this will do 🙂

Chapter 45 - The Ninth Wave is officially in the first draft folder! It was a lot of fun writing this chapter having a musical background, while telling this story through the rhythm of each movement in the concert. We can neither confirm nor deny that this chapter is the other perspective to the chaotic short story I wrote for @mauifiatti "Libertango." 🎼 🎶

The first draft is gradually making its way towards completion. The Ninth Wave is a welcome addition to the chapter roster!

Some post-climbing gym shenanigans yesterday @vitalbrooklyn ft. my beautiful @Arc’teryx block I was able to lift up to 170 with my right hand (and kinda barely with my left) on a good jug (40mm?) after a solid 3-hour climbing session with the homies!

Ft: @sasha.petukhova.yoga @s.deltanis @nathanialbell08 & I hitting PRs!

Really fun V7 over at @movementgymsnyc - the meaty pinches and technical footwork made this a really satisfying route to play with, 10/10 👌

It's been a while since pinches have given me some trouble. @island_rock_gym be stepping up the game, and loving every second of it! The heel-toe jam in the ceiling was awkward but allowed for a static finish👌 10/10 would suffer through this glorious route again 🔥
