Steve and I have always traveled independent of any kind of tour operators, but when Moroccan Riads and Beyond suggested a babouche-making experience in the Marrakech medina, I was sold! And I was not disappointed…Youssef was so welcoming in his tiny shop…it felt so natural and authentic! taken in Marrakech, Morocco by @s.levin

A few notes on flora and food…Miles and miles of date, olive, and pomegranate trees overflowing, everywhere! I’m especially enjoying the poms, which I never knew would bust open when ripe, while still on the tree! The ones we’ve had here are yellowish on the outside, and pale pink on the inside…milder flavor than the dark ones I’m accustomed to. YES, green and black olives grow on the same tree…different stages of ripeness, I believe. Every morning, wherever we go, we are served, among other things for breakfast, 2 kinds of small pancakes. One feels like the traditional French crepe, only it’s covered with bubbles, spongy. The other is shaped in thin layers, feels like a Chinese scallion pancake. Finally, I have never seen a dessert styled as Steve’s banana tart from last night! And no spoon! I could go on for days, about all the amazing food we’ve had on this trip, including some nice surprises! #foodies #moroccancouisine #moroccanproduce #pomegranates taken in Marrakech, Morocco by @s.levin
