Dear nursing school,

What a wild, exhausting, and deeply fulfilling journey you’ve been.

If you know me, you’d know that this path wasn’t easy. From losing two close family friends in a terrible tragedy my freshman year, to fighting my own health journey at the beginning of last year, and many more obstacles in between. However, these experiences have made me more sure of the path that I’m meant to take. Nursing. To care with intention, to listen, to advocate, and to lead with both strength and compassion. That passion has been with me since I was little, and it’s only grown stronger. My desire to learn will continue to grow and I am eager expand my knowledge as I become a registered nurse.

To all the professors who were there for me and supported my every step, I thank you from the bottom of my heart for allowing me to fulfill my dream and make it this far.

For my parents, thank you for your constant love and support. You have shown so much courage and are the first people who taught me to never give up. The care I give to others is a reflection of your love and of everything you’ve given me

And lastly, to the one CNA instructor who told me that I would never make a good nurse, look at me now.

Thank you CON and UIC for bringing me some of the most cherishable years of my life. From long study hours in the library, all the organizations I was a part of, and all the friends along the way, I will always keep UIC near and dear to my heart.

With love,
Sara taken in UIC Nursing by @s.rothenbaum
