Ever finish something and feel like, “finally — this one works”? This is definitely one of those times, not gonna be tearing this one apart anytime soon! *collective sigh of relief* Oh and it’s also available for purchase, so send me a DM if you’re interested Are you keeping up with Absolute Batman btw? What did you think of #10? *Minor spoilers ahead* I liked Croc’s design a lot, Gaping Dragon from Dark Souls, anyone? Just me? Okay That splash page of him and Batman aura farming caught me off guard though 😂 Also shocked by how bold they got with Bruce’s capture and all the surgeries, it’s a cool shift for the status quo and I hope they won’t undo that immediately But enough yapping from me, what did you think? #comicbookartist #dcart #batman #absolutebatman #pencilartwork #drawingcomics #comicartists #lineart by @s.souljacker

One of the greatest challenges in art is transferring the energy present on the prelim to the actual piece and then managing to keep it there until the artwork is finished There’s a certain flow to unfinished art that inevitably fades away when you fill it with detail, learning to stop before that happens is what makes an artist truly great…or lazy, the jury’s still out on this one Which piece do you think changed the most from sketch to final form? Curious to hear what you guys think #comicbookartist #marvelart #dcart #spawn #vampirella #juggernaut #tekken #pencilartwork #drawingcomics #comicartists #lineart by @s.souljacker
Pizza night! TMNT commission Can’t really express how much I loved drawing this, might be one of my favorite pieces yet Y’know, drawing people killing each other and looking cool is always fun (that’s what got me into this job in the first place), but it’s a different kind of joy whenever I get the chance to draw something wholesome for a change, creating that interpersonal connection on the page is just incredible P.S. My commissions are currently open, so if you're interested in getting one - send me a message! #idw #idwpublishing #tmnt #teenagemutantnijaturtles #michelangelo #donatello #superhero #comics #pencil #sketch by @s.souljacker
"Heh. I take the good with the bad..." Alternative title is "When the girl I just turned into a donut resurrects herself with her awesome pink powers and immediately blasts all of my skin off" So here’s that second Conquest piece I was previously teasing, had a blast with this one - as a certified anatomy freak, I just couldn’t miss the opportunity to draw a character with no skin, lol Obviously took some artistic liberties here and there, so the level of damage on him is not entirely accurate, I hope the Invincible purists out there will forgive me Also want to thank you all for the incredible response to my last post, you guys are amazing P.S. This piece is available for purchase, DM me if you’re interested #image #imagecomics #invincible #conquest #superhero #supervillain #comics #pencil #sketch by @s.souljacker
"Stand ready for my arrival, worm!" Conquest drawing for fun, a battle-damaged version is already in the works, expect that soon (in a year) Okay, jokes aside, how have you guys been? Would love to chat with you a bit Have you been keeping up with the show? Did you like the way they handled Conquest? To be honest, I switched to the comic after season 1 and haven't really looked back since, but I did see an insane amount of buzz around season 3, so I watched like two episodes to not miss out lol All in all, it was pretty damn good, Conquest's voice feels a bit off though, I always imagined him having a more charismatic, Heihachi-like tone, maybe that's just me P.S. This piece is available for purchase, so hit me up if you're interested #image #imagecomics #invincible #conquest #superhero #supervillain #comics #pencil #sketch by @s.souljacker
Did you know that the first time a female artist was put in charge of the main Batman title was in 2012? Feels like that milestone must’ve already been reached somewhere in the 20th century, but that should give you an idea of the challenges that women face in the art industry For a very long time the societal structure didn’t allow women to pursue art as a career and women were quite misrepresented in art history So for International Women’s Day, I want to share with you the work of some of my favorite female artists: • Eliza Ivanova - gorgeous and unique style, the use of the blending stump and the stacking, flowing lines make her figures appear ethereal, crafted with smoke and glass • Peach Momoko - soft watercolors contrast with the imagery and create a beautiful and eerie atmosphere • Hiromu Arakawa - mangaka behind Fullmetal Alchemist, she created one of the greatest stories in manga with a unique and intricate world • Jeffrey Catherine Jones - fantasy art legend on par with Frazetta, who actually called her “the greatest living painter”, I can’t argue with that • Becky Cloonan - the aforementioned Batman artist, great page composition and powerful inks, I especially adore her work on covers But of course, the two most important and influential women artists in my life are my dear mother, who was my role model for becoming an artist and encouraged me every step of the way, and my wonderful girlfriend, who helps me be the best version of myself and inspires me to evolve and broaden my creative vision I love them both dearly and I will share their art with you in the future #comicbookartist #marvelart #dcart #femaleartists #womenincomics #pencilartwork #drawingcomics #comicartists #lineart by @s.souljacker
How to survive being an artist Art business is not all fun and games, being a full-time artist comes with it’s own set of challenges - unstable income, chaotic working hours, lack of benefits, looming self-doubt and all the different ways social media can mess with your brain - the list goes on Here are some tips that I’ve learned the hard way: • Set a consistent schedule and figure out a personal workflow, this will alleviate a lot of stress and uncertainty from your day to day grind • Think of you mental and physical health - don’t overwork yourself, get enough sleep, try to limit your screen time when you’re not working and, quite literally, go touch some grass, this will help you not burn out • Build connections with fellow artists, followers, clients, and industry professionals, especially if you’re prone to self-isolate like I am • Stay curious, find ways to keep yourself interested in the work that you’re doing, free up some time for personal works, if you want to make fan art for some random anime then go do it - speaking from experience, that’s how I maintain my sanity :) But most importantly - allow yourself to be tired sometimes, getting to draw pictures for a living sounds great from the outside, but, at the end of the day, it’s still a job and your struggles are valid #comicbookartist #marvelart #dcart #pencilartwork #drawingcomics #comicartists #lineart by @s.souljacker
What makes a drawing captivating? What makes it better than the rest? Is it the amount of detail or intricacy of composition, gesture or anatomy? Or is it the audience reception? After all, the artist doesn’t create in a vacuum and sometimes it’s the “outsider” who has the bigger picture I’d love to know your thoughts on the matter, let’s discuss it in the comments And don’t take the list too seriously - as you can see, it’s pretty difficult for me to evaluate my own work Do you have a favorite artwork of mine? What do you like about it? Please let me know! #comicbookartist #marvelart #dcart #pencilartwork #drawingcomics #comicartist by @s.souljacker
