A seat and a story

I’ve had this Status Leguna seat since I was 15 years old. I traded my high school auto shop teacher a bag of golf clubs for it when I was putting together my first S13 from a shell. It was donated to the school for the class dirt oval project and the teacher ended up letting it go because it wasn’t compliant with the racing organization that the car would compete in.

Almost 100% of the seat time that I’ve experienced has been in this seat. I’ve driven 8 hour trips in it probably 10 times. It would be interesting how many hours/miles I’ve actually sat in this seat.

I actually sold it to Forrest to raise funds when I was getting ready to move out and go to college. Then he was nice enough to sell it back to me for the same price 2 years later when I moved back home.

I’ve always wanted a nice set of Bride seats. It was just never a priority because I’ve always had “my seat”. And “my seat” was something that’s been a staple of my car life for 18 years.

I think the decision to finally get some Bride seats had to do with wanting to further develop the theme of my car. I think it is going to be a really nice touch to the “period correct-ness”?

The second picture was my childhood dog PJ, on the hood of my first 240. He was my best friend and would always sit with me when I was working on the car

I wanted the car to look and feel like a celebration of car life. I want it to look like we’re ready to have fun and make memories

I like some different styles, but when I started drawing this one, it really made me feel something. It’s been an idea that I’ve been working with for more than a year. The main inspiration for this (and most other designs that I’ve done) is the legendary Manabu Suzuki @manabu771 of MSR (Manabu Suzuki Revolution). The heavy chrome coverage style that he is known for can be enjoyed by viewing early 2000’s D1 Grand Prix.

These are the some of the first drift cars that I fell in love with as a child (along with probably so many of you). Thank you to @garagesokudo for his research and helping me connect the dots with MSR. I never realized that all of my favorite cars’ designs were done by the same artist. It was a full circle moment lol.

Before the next events in the upcoming weekends, I wanted to take a sec to put the Cafe Runner Drip Day on the memory board! It was at the end of last month but I had so much fun. Got to spend some quality time with awesome people that I am lucky to call my friends

Was perfect timing for a lil test day as well because I had just installed the new custom Stance D1 Spec coilovers from @tfworks @stanceusa. The car feels 1000x better and gives me a ton more confidence to build on my driving inputs.

I picked some fun moments to share

The year is hours from being behind us, so I’d like to take a second to express my gratitude. I sort of said it in my last post. But, to my friends and supporters of Garage Hot Car, without all of you, car life would not be the same

The year full of positive experiences that felt like a dream. The year of many special moments in my personal life. The year of Cassidy and I working in the evenings and weekends to ship out thousands of stickers. The year of seeing my design fly down the track for the first time. The year of getting robbed and having knee surgery. The year of following my heart in car life and allowing myself to be vulnerable by sharing my art journey. The year of finally putting effort into my driving ability. The year of so many other experiences that gave the feeling of progression…

And it ended with a BANG this month, completed @superjaysgarage design, got the knee feeling better, found a dream spec Honda Fit, first AVS tandems, third gear clutch kick entry, etc haha

2025 brought so much to my life and I hope it did the same for you. I cannot expect every year to be this outstanding, but, I can most definitely try. I truly, am excited for the expierences and opportunities that could come in 2026.
