This past May 6th our honor at SALAA to organize and host the event "Rethinking Architecture Education in Latin America."

It was an unprecedented event in our region to have under one roof most of the Tijuana - San Diego architecture schools. We are grateful to our special guests; without them, it would have simply never happened. We are indebted to Micheal Rotondi and Orhan Ayucce for their collaboration and for making this possible.

Likewise, we are grateful to our sponsors that believe in supporting projects that have a meaningful impact.

It gives us great joy and a sense of deep responsibility to continue the great endeavor we have inaugurated together. So we leave this post paraphrasing

M. Rotondi:

I not only understand intellectually the importance of what is happening here today, my whole being feels it; it reminds me of the energy and magic of the early days of SCI-Arc.

Extraterritorial Ecologies — a glimpse into our recent exhibition at SALAA, featuring work by Architect Rudy Argote during the Synthetic Landscapes program at @sciarc.

An alternative reality for the Tijuana–San Diego estuarial border landscape. Looking at the border as a world-producing object, a vessel that absorbs not just ecological tensions but political, social, and technological, between north america and south america overflowing to spill a weird spectrum of realities.

Grateful to have shared this moment with friends, collaborators, and colleagues.

More than ever, our epoch calls out for new modes of questioning, thinking, and acting, but not from pre-set rules or methodologies that continue the construction of our present crisis; the thin, however influential aesthetical function layer of architecture in its role of the contemporary continuum must be revised, reinvented and rediscovered into deep up and down and side to side planetary systems.

We are honored to have David Ruy @davidruy Postgraduate Programs Chair, MS Synthetic Landscapes Coordinator at SCI-Arc, as our next guest for the series “Rethinking Architecture Education in Latinamerica.” A series of conversations funded by the Graham Foundation.

David Ruy is an architect, theorist, and director of Ruy Klein. Ruy Klein examines contemporary design problems at the intersection of architecture, nature, and technology. Encompassing a wide array of experimentation, Ruy Klein’s projects study the mutual imbrications of artificial and natural regimes shaping an ever more synthetic world.

Este pasado 27 de noviembre en colaboración con @torolab y la Bienal Iberoamericana de Arquitectura y Urbanismo @bienal_biau tuvimos nuevamente el honor en SALAA de organizar el evento “Rethinking Architecture Education in Latinamerica.” Segunda edición. Evento seleccionado por Graham Foundation @grahamfoundation

Fue un evento sin precedentes con nuestra especial invitada CELINA CAPOROSSI @celinacaporossi

En esta segunda edición, SALAA continuó con el esfuerzo de unir las escuelas de Arquitectura en la región (Tijuana - San Diego), pero ahora, extendiéndose a Latinoamérica (Colombia, Argentina y Perú). Estas fronteras se conectaron virtualmente para tomar este taller con Celina.

Estamos agradecidos con nuestros invitados especiales; sin ellos, simplemente nunca hubiera sucedido.

Drawings, maps, artifacts, and hybrid digital works construct an alternative representation that challenge political borders through ecological imagination.

El pasado 25 de noviembre, SALAA tuvo el honor de participar en el evento “Diseño al Margen” organizado por @torolab en colaboración con la @bienal_biau , donde se abordó el tema de “Diseño y emprendimiento para un futuro más justo”.

Durante nuestra intervención, presentamos y discutimos nuestro proyecto SALAA @argoterodolfo @alex_santander_a y @luna.denise .

El pasado 24 de noviembre el VII Coloquio Internacional de Ontología y Metafísica contemporánea en colaboración con UABC tuvieron la oportunidad de contar con la presencia del Filósofo @graham_object , quien presentó su libro “Arquitectura y Objeto”. Este evento se llevó a cabo en SALAA, que tuvo el placer de ser sede de esta presentación.

Arquitectura y objetos es el primer libro sobre arquitectura del fundador de esta escuela filosófica, que profundiza en el intercambio entre ambas disciplinas. Con la estética como instrumento central, propondrá nuevos itinerarios sobre cómo entender la Ontología Orientada a Objetos en el discurso y la práctica de la arquitectura contemporánea.

Agradecemos infinitamente la valiosa participación de @gerardmferrer y @luna.denise quienes acompañaron a Harman en su presentación y a @alfredogreynoso quien fue organizador del evento en donde propuso como como tema principal “Fronteras actuales entre estética y ontología”. by @s_al_a_a
