they say life sounds like this once and never again
ive been looking back a lot lately
with each step that takes leap forward,
the heart races back into the miles it
walked behind
maybe it's the longing of something lost
along the way without my conscious
or the perpetual symphony that takes
no name of leaving it's hum from my lips
though i say silent i remember the
solitude as if tracing the lines on my palm
that has faded by the touch of melencholy
at the place that no longer knows the rhythm
to my heart
cause it's still beating in the place that was
once mine to walk, sit & breathe
the telephone booths and newsletter prints
kept treasured in the whim of a return
keeps calling me home to the version of myself ive
known only in its golden glitter

Today isn't about what I didn't have.

It's about the woman who carried both roles without ever complaining.

She showed up to every school event, paid every school fee, and somehow made sure I never felt like I was missing anything.

She loved twice as hard, worked twice as much, and sacrificed more than I'll ever fully understand.

When I wanted to chase my dreams and fly, she never held me back. She believed in me, encouraged me, and gave me the courage to spread my wings—even when it meant watching me leave home.

So today, I don't celebrate the father I never had.

I celebrate the woman who made sure I never felt the absence of one.

I remember this day very vividly, etched in my heart & skin like it was just today morning. it was my star birthday. I was so happy to wear the yellow dress my Amma had send for me to Paris for my birthday. I remember how the air felt that day. cold, but not cold enough to want to cocoon myself in a jacket but warm enough to not need a hug. it was a perfect autumn weather. my kind of weather. summer still leaning her head onto winters shoulder, both wanting to linger a little longer knowing it's not their time. it drizzled that day. my hair was still wet from the shower. I smelled like temple because i went to one for the special day. i was in one of my favourite place, my little secret hideaway location in the 19th arrondissement in le paris. i was on a studio lookout too that time. the wooden floors of the studio i visited in the residence still holds the sound of craking wood under my feet. that day the city i'd loved all the years of my life felt like it was writing itself away in my name. a sense of divine belongingness. walking in the warmth of my Ammas love in yellow, her favourite colour on me. it felt as if i was born with paris already written in the stars for me. I'm a Paris girl. I'll forever be a paris girl. the city guided me into myself. helped pave a path to a version I'm forever proud of. from the girl who stepped out into the airport with big dreams to the women i became in the process of stepping into working for that dream. the strength & grace with each passing day have formed the foundation to my life ahead.

i feel if you've lived in Paris you can go live anywhere else in the world. that's the boldness she shapes you with. and like the famous Hemingway quote goes, if you are lucky enough to have lived in Paris as a young woman, then wherever you go for the rest of your life, it stays with you, for Paris is a moveable feast. so yes for me she's a feeling that will never go away❤️🗼

Can't believe the baby I'm holding close to my heart is 25. God's absolute grace. The song choice because that's what I grew up hearing my Amma sing for me, still do. The lines somehow is everything I would tell my one year old self too. And I for sure have grown up to be that good girl. I've always felt this urge to just think about a single question whenever I'm met with a situation that hurts my heart, 'Would I let this happen to my daughter'. In that I always find my answer to make the decision. But never did I wonder if I'd let my own baby version ever get treated that way. Now that I see her wrapping me in the warmth of her little hands as if she knows I'll never let her go, never would I ever let anyone steal the bundle of joy that I'm holding dear in my arms. Her whole world and my whole world fits inside that hug. You know they say you grow up to be the woman your younger self would feel safe and protected with. That's when you know you've made it. And I can promise myself I've become that person for this little baby girl right here. I can't help but wonder at the fact that she really is still inside me. And I'll always cherish this version of her within me.
I was so eager and happy to show my mom this picture. And what she told me in response just added to the reassurance I felt. Forever grateful that I get to see me hold you close in my arms like this. Thanks to Gemini, I've got a picture that I will frame and safeguard for the rest of my life.

I love you to the depths baby girl❤️. I would go to wars for you. You are so damn loved and I will keep you close. Your laughter and joy will never fade. I will make sure of that. You are God's daughter, His favourite child🤍.
