Happy Halloween from SAB! Tricks include, but are not limited to, copious pirouettes and sky high développés. The treat? Doing it all in some of the most creative costumes we’ve ever seen🤭 #sabnyc #sabhalloween #halloween #balletclass #halloweencostumes by @sab_nyc
For generations, the beginning of American ballet’s most extraordinary artists’ journeys can be traced to the School of American Ballet. Passion, dedication, and extraordinary talent lie as the uniting factor for each dancer’s individual stories. This World Ballet Day, we celebrate every student, teacher, and choreographer whose work has shaped SAB’s story since 1934. Happy World Ballet Day from SAB! #sabnyc #worldballetday #sabwinterterm #ballettraining #balanchine by @sab_nyc
I look forward to returning to the School of American Ballet as a principal guest teacher for the fall season of 2026. It is always something quite special and nourishing to return home where everything began as a professional dancer at NYCB and also to see the next generation on the way! Thank you @jeniferringer and @sab_nyc for the invitation ! . . . . #myrnakamara #guestteacher #alumna #sab #balletworldconnected Photo : Heather Toner by @sab_nyc
Getting their first pair of pointe shoes is one of the most special moments of a young dancer’s journey. Congratulations to each of our Girls IV dancers who recently began dancing en pointe! Thank you to @freedoflondonusa for hosting the perfect fitting for these eager, young students! #sabnyc #sabwinterterm #pointeshoes #enpointe #balletlife by @sab_nyc
At the top of Winter Term, Intermediate and Advanced students participated in PT Assessments led by SAB’s internal Physical Therapy staff with the help of providers from NewYork-Presbyterian. During these evaluations, each student completed a series of tests that revealed insights related to their individual wellness needs. The results of these tests will be used to: ☆ Inform the cross-training curriculums for each class level ☆ Integrate specific exercises and support into a personalized injury prevention plan ☆ Develop individualized rehabilitation programs in the case of injury Caring for a healthy dance career is not one size fits all. We are so grateful to each healthcare professional who has helped set our students up for a successful year, one PT exercise at a time! Did you know that every technique and variations class at SAB features live piano accompaniment? George Balanchine once said that "pianists shape the musical pulse of each class, giving movement its rhythm and expressive character". Our incredible pianists do exactly that - breathing additional life into every combination. This #worldballetpianistday , we thank all of our pianists for the incredible artistry they bring to our classes! #sabnyc #balletclass #livemusic #musicforballet by @sab_nyc
Before our Girls IV students get their first pair of pointe shoes, our dedicated faculty works diligently to ensure each dancer has the strength needed to succeed en pointe. Kerry Shea, full-time Pilates instructor, collaborated with Children’s/Preparatory Divisions Director Katrina Killian to develop this Pointe Readiness Workshop, which prepares young dancers for a healthy, long-lasting pointe education. Our students stayed focused and joyful as they worked toward earning their pointe shoes. We cannot wait to watch these dancers shine! #sabnyc #pointeshoes #pointereadiness #dancerwellness #ballettraining by @sab_nyc

Last night, we celebrated our commitment to providing outstanding ballet training with the launch of our campaign: The Next Generation of Excellence. A student panel led by Aesha Ash was a shining pillar of this celebratory event, where dancers reflected on their experiences at the school. Through this campaign we will enhance our current resources to: ☆ Strengthen the Whole Dancer ☆ Advance Artistic Excellence ☆ Elevate Access and Belonging The time to support the next generation of excellence is now. We are wishing a wonderful Opening Night to our faculty and alumni who are performing in New York City Ballet’s Fall 2026 season! As the official school of New York City Ballet, SAB alumni make up a large percentage of the company. During and after their time in the company, many dancers return to the SAB faculty. Do you recognize which SAB alumnus, current teacher, and NYCB principal dancer is featured here? 📸: Ellen Crane #sabnyc #nycballet #sabalumni #sabfaculty #ballet by @sab_nyc
