Podiumsdiskussion: KI und Gleichberechtigung

Wann?
Dienstag, 3. November 2026
18:30 bis 21:30 Uhr

Wo?
Instituto Cervantes Frankfurt

Eintritt: kostenlos

Die Veranstaltung wird übersetzt:
Deutsch–Spanisch (Lautsprache) und in Deutsche Gebärdensprache.

Anmeldung bis zum 30. Oktober.

03.11.2026, 18:30–21:30 Uhr
Instituto Cervantes Frankfurt (@institutocervantesfrankfurt)

A vivid expression of Afar culture in Eritrea. 🇪🇷

Through traditional dress, ceremony and coordinated movement, moments like this reflect a culture shaped by community, history and shared identity.

The Afar are one of Eritrea’s distinct cultural groups, with traditions that continue to be passed down through generations and remain an important part of the country’s wider cultural landscape.

I spent the past few weeks in Kenya on a political/ educational trip, and I’m still processing the experience…. from an economic, historical, and human perspective. It was not easy.

I simply cannot travel the world without my economics gaze. I got it from my momma! Guys, the injustice is basically everywhere. There is so much to reflect on, and I’ll share it once Im settled.

But first, I want to say how incredibly lush and green Kenya is. The colors somehow feel different there…is it the proximity to the equator? Everything feels so vivid and alive. And second, the Kenyans I met, welcomed me with warmth, openness, deep conversations. I think these two things are important to understand when it comes to this place of the earth. 🌍

Kenya, thank you for everything you showed me … both the beauty and the difficult realities.

Africa, I hope you will heal soon. 🌱 You are everything!

Afar… one of Eritrea’s nine nations.

I actually just went to Harnet Avenue bc I wanted to exchange some money at Himbol when a sweet student told me to stay and watch. Locals see instantly that we are visitors 😬. I had goosebumps, when they passed. The same goosebumps I had when I went to their region (Southern Eritrea) - almost ten years ago.

….. very proud, fierce and beautiful people 🥹✨✨✨✨✨✨ taken in Asmara, ኣስመራ, أسمرا by @saba_abeba

Thank you, God 🫶🏽🤍
📍 @paulskirche

Yesterday, I stood infront of 600 people and gave a speech that truly meant something to me.

The road to this moment wasn’t easy. I’m doing things a little unconventionally and I’ve definitely taken some hits along the way. But with an amazing family and the sweetest friends, who stood by me even when no cameras were flashing, I made it to that mic up here. This is for you!

There are a lot of people that are not on these pictures but are equally important to this road. I love y‘all 🤍. You carry me.

@frankfurt.de, @mikejoseffm and his team - Thank you for inviting me! A special thank you to @tarikchai for encouraging me to do this 🙏🏾🫶🏽 taken in Römer Paulskirche by @saba_abeba

Black Speculative Arts Festival!

We sit on shoulders of GIANTS.

March 8, 1979

My grandmother Milashu (on the left) at the International Women’s Day demonstration in Roma, Italy.

Last year, I wrote a very personal post about my Mom and her time as a female soldier. I want to go deeper, as the Eritrean women were fighters long before they went to war to fight alongside men. I want to tell their stories and I am starting with my own ones. This year, I will talk about my mom‘s mother.

All her life, she was pushing boundaries in her own realm. Without knowing how to read and write, she made a conscious decision to run away from her arranged marriage, left her village, start working in Asmara, married out of love, raised her 8 children in extrem financial scarcity, taught them about gender equality, and prohibited performing FGM on her daughters. The latter was a revolutionary act back in the 1950s. She knew in her heart right from wrong and followed her own mind. The last time I saw her, she explained to me, my mom was supposed to be a professor 👩🏾‍🏫 but the war made her a worrier. She took my hand, squeezed it gently and told me to follow my own path and live an independent life. I truly miss her kindness and warmth.

I cannot imagine the pressure she experienced. It was tough. I think of her often lately, especially when I‘m getting heat for speaking up my mind, fighting for what’s right, and demanding respect. Adetatena (our mothers) went through worse and still radiate love and wisdom! We owe them so much, we owe them to push further - doesn’t matter if you are a man or woman.... we all have mothers. I wear her ring daily to remind myself of that responsibility.

Watching my cousin/sister @flavafev building her own empire and blossoming as a black female entrepreneur in Vancouver, reassures me that my grandmother’s determination is in us. It’s a DNA thing.

Tell me your grandmother‘s and mom’s story! I want to gather our HERstory. ✊🏿
