Transparency, this post isn’t even just about the dancing for me this time…I have lost a level of confidence in myself recently, specifically focused around my body. Turning 30 ain’t no joke yall it really feels like overnight things changes and it’s actually nuts. My body doesn’t do the things it used to as easily, so I have to cross train even harder just to make up the difference and I miss the mark a lot. But mostly, I’ve just been having a hard time adjusting to this new extra weight that I’m not used to having (yes it’s there especially in my stomach and it’s why I wear tshirts and baggy clothes so much, even if it doesn’t look like it to yall, I just hide it well). But this day, I said bump all that…I’m gon dance and let some of the body show, cus I gotta learn how to love every stage of me, and you can’t fake the “sexy” in a heel so this was a good place to try this out.
I also have stayed away from heels [dancing/training] for a long time bc of different knee and ankle issues/ injuries over time which prevented me from training like I used to, so I felt rustyyy. But @officiallydes was very encouraging, as we relate to a lot of things around this body topic rn; I felt very seen and understood in her space. If it wasn’t for her letting me session with her a few days before this class, I may not have felt ready enough to even show up for myself like this. It gave me a space to get back into my shoes, into this new body, and to allow myself to own it and try to feel like THAT GIRL again (not fully there yet but it’s a step in the right direction). So I thank you for this sis and for making me go by myself “unplanned” (lol) bc there was nowhere for me to hide, which I need to stop doing anyway. I’m very grateful. Baby steps to coming out of the shadows🥂✨
Thank you to everyone in the room who was so loving and encouraging as well, so many of the girlies came outsideee for this one, we had a blast.
