HAPPIEST birthday to my ride or die, my partner in crime, and the most beautiful girl I have ever known —inside and out (but especially on the inside). She is kind, sweet, wicked smart, hard-working, fiercely loyal, PATIENT, and truly one of the biggest blessings the Lord has ever given me. HE IS RISEN!! ✝️ I love that Easter was on my mother’s birthday this year. Jesus is no longer in the grave, and neither is my best friend of 52 years. It made me smile today knowing that my precious mom is with Jesus — healthy and pain-free, and praising the Lord with her parents and cousins. Happy Birthday, Mama. I miss you so much, but I am so incredibly grateful for the all the time I had with you. Friends, if you don’t know what Easter is really about, please message me. GOD IS SOOOOOO GOOD!! ❤️ From being in the hospital for six days, to using a walker and a wheelchair, then finally graduating to crutches… my girl is now walking! We still have physical therapy to go, but she is doing fantastic! Thank you so so much for all of the prayers, texts, calls, Messages, and comments. I love you all so so much! Final tally: 💔avulsion fracture of sacrum (piece of bone completely chipped off) 💔fracture of ilium (this is a separate fracture of a separate bone) 💔tear of SI joint capsule, tear of ligaments connecting sacrum and ilium, and widening of space between the two bones 💔hemorrhaging and edema and strain to multiple muscles No wonder she was in such intense pain! I honestly don’t know how she was able to bear it. She is so tough!!!! The surgeon could put in a screw to close the gap, but does not feel the risk would be worth the reward so we will wait and see how it heals. As long as it doesn’t get worse, she can avoid surgery and let it heal on its own but no weight-bearing on her right leg for 3 to 4 weeks.  Initially, she was unable to move her legs from a lying position and especially the right leg, but she is starting to be able to move it on her own. She is able to use her walker to get the short distances she needs to go… very minimal right now.  She was finally discharged from the hospital yesterday and made it home to find a sweet gift from a precious friend. (Pic below) First day at home was rough. She woke up in pain, but the pain meds made her nauseous and she lost everything. She ran fever all day and was completely miserable until I finally got some Zofran down her and then eventually pain meds. This will be a hard road to recovery, but we know that the Lord protected her and she will be OK. We are so grateful for that! And we are so sincerely grateful for all of the texts and calls and messages and gifts and visits and notes and meals… You guys are amazing!!! UPDATE: we finally got conclusive test results yesterday… Fractured sacrum, tear to SI capsule, lots of ligament damage and lots of muscle damage. We are honestly so happy to get that news because we knew something was terribly wrong because of her pain level and just wanted to know what it was! The great thing is that at this point it does not look like she needs surgery and it should be able to heal on its own as long as she is very careful. She cannot put weight on her right leg for 3 to 4 weeks but any permanent damage should be minimal. Praise our mighty God!!! THANK YOU AGAIN for the prayers and calls and texts and visits and the love you have poured out for Colby and me. We are so grateful to have precious friends like you!! My specific prayer is that the Lord will heal her COMPLETELY and also so quickly that everyone will be amazed, and they will wonder how that’s possible and in turn all the glory will be projected back to God and everyone will know of His divine healing and miraculous works and goodness.  That is already happening as the nurses last night and today have been amazed at what she has been able to do already. Praise the Lord for that, and for giving me the toughest girl in the world who will never quit, never give up, and keep fighting to get better all the time. Life is CRAAZYYY!! Most of you probably don’t even know that she started a treatment program earlier this week for ARFID (more on that later) but only one week in, last night, she was riding and took a bad fall after a jump.  When I realized she couldn’t move her legs more than a couple of inches because the pain was excruciating I called an ambulance. After several hours of scans and an absolute ton of pain medication, they admitted her. They think she may have a fracture in her back and possibly tendon and ligament damage. They are getting another MRI tonight or tomorrow to hopefully rule out surgery. I haven’t had a lot of time to talk to very many of you, but I know that many of you are or will be praying, and for that I am so grateful. We are also grateful for the Lord’s protection because it could have been much worse. I believe the terrifying part is over and now we are just dealing with pain like I’ve never seen her in before. Thank you so much for the calls, texts, visits, care baskets, and prayers. We appreciate them more than you know. ❤️ God is still on His throne. by @sabrina.menck
