This was by far the longest relationship I’ve ever had with an animal. I found Peanut and her littermates in 2007 after her feral mom had abandoned them. Their eyes weren’t even open yet, they were so tiny. They came to live with us, we called them our little peanuts, we bottle fed them and taught them how to groom themselves, I took them to work with me every day, and we found homes for all of them when they were big enough. One of the homes fell through and of course I was so attached to them, so we kept this one and she became our Peanut. She was with us before we got married, before we had kids, and she learned to love our kids but didn’t really like anyone else. I always joked that she was ungrateful for being rescued from her life on the streets. 🤪 But the last few years after she lost her hearing and probably went a bit senile, I guess she forgot that she was mean and she’s been the sweetest, most tolerant cat. She stopped hissing at our dogs and started coming out when we had people over - friends we’ve had for years who had no idea we had a cat because she had always stayed hidden in our room before. 😆 For 19 years she didn’t have a single health issue and we have been so thankful to have had her with us for longer then we expected. Her decline over the last week was peaceful and gave us time to process, say goodbye, and show her lots of love and care. It was the best ending we could have hoped for her. Bye, my sweet, grumpy cat! I’ll miss you so much. ❤️ by @sacdaniel
It’s been a whirlwind the past few weeks and the only person who can put up with my middle-aged antics is my beautiful and incredibly supportive wife @amycamacho. Our anniversary was on Sunday, October 4 and I can’t thank her enough for the amazing life we’ve built over 17 years of marriage. Have there been rough moments? Sure, just like everyone else. But the great moments we’ve shared far out weigh those by a landslide. Happy 17th Anniversary Amy! I love you and I am, I am, I am, THE LUCKIEST. ❤️ by @sacdaniel
