You can’t have real intimacy without vulnerability. ❤️

I see this so often in my work as a matchmaker. People want love, connection and a beautiful relationship, but sometimes they’re also protecting themselves so carefully that nobody can actually get close enough to know them.

Vulnerability doesn’t mean telling someone everything on the first date. It means slowly allowing yourself to be seen, to be curious, to open your heart and to take the risk of being genuinely known.

Because the right relationship isn’t about finding someone who never hurts you. It’s about finding someone you feel safe enough to be real with.

Love requires courage.

You cannot experience deep love while keeping your heart behind a fortress.

Vulnerability isn’t weakness, it’s the doorway to intimacy, connection and being truly known.

And sometimes, finding the right person is only half the journey… the other half is allowing yourself to be seen. ❤️

✨ Amura at the Mount Nelson ✨

My friends and I had the most incredible time experiencing Amura at @belmondmountnelsonhotel in Cape Town and honestly, what a great experience.

The restaurant itself is absolutely stunning. The interior was designed by my incredibly talented friend @tristanduplessis_studio, inspired by the ocean and Cape Town’s kelp forests. It feels sophisticated and luxurious, but at the same time really warm and atmospheric. You could honestly just sit there and take it all in. The service was exceptional too.

And then there’s the food… 🐚

Amura is all about the ocean and celebrating what comes from it and every dish was so beautifully thought through. There are so many little details and stories behind the experience.

One of the things that fascinated me was the wine. 🍷 We had a Bamboes Bay Sauvignon Blanc from Fryer’s Cove that is actually matured underwater. Yes, underwater! The bottles are placed on the ocean floor, where barnacles and marine life grow around them. I mean… how incredible is that? 🫶

There’s something so special about drinking a wine that has literally spent time beneath the sea.

And Amura has now been named one of the World’s Most Beautiful Restaurants by Prix Versailles and the only South African restaurant to make the 2026 list. 🇿🇦

I can completely understand why.

And if you’re thinking of somewhere really special and romantic to take your partner, this would definitely be one to put on your list. It’s the kind of place where you can dress up, slow down, have a beautiful meal, enjoy a glass of wine and actually make an evening of it. ❤️

Cape Town really does have some extraordinary places.

I think we’ve become very good at deciding who someone is before we’ve actually met them.

We Google. We analyse. We compare. We create a mental checklist. We decide whether someone is “our type” before we’ve even sat across from them.

And somewhere along the way, we’ve forgotten that human connection cannot be researched into existence.

The person who looks perfect on paper may leave you cold.
The person you almost dismissed may surprise you completely.

This isn’t about lowering your standards.
It’s about leaving enough room for reality to surprise you.

Because sometimes the biggest disconnect in modern dating isn’t that there aren’t good people out there.

It’s that we’ve become so busy looking for exactly what we think we want… that we don’t give ourselves the opportunity to discover what might actually make us happy.

Meet the person.
Have the coffee.
Ask the questions.
Put the phone down.

And then decide. ❤️

A whole other world… 🌾🤍

Nampo opened my eyes to a world that is so different from my own and one that I have enormous respect for.

It’s a world of hardworking, grounded and incredibly honourable men and women who dedicate their lives to working the land, often under incredibly challenging circumstances, to provide food and livelihoods for so many of us.

A very special shout-out to our incredible South African farmers. 🇿🇦

The early mornings, the long days, the uncertainty of weather, the sheer physical work and the responsibility of producing what ultimately lands on our tables… it gave me an even greater appreciation for what farming really means!

And then there was the warmth of the Afrikaans community, who welcomed us with such generosity, humour and hospitality. We felt incredibly at home. ❤️

Nampo reminded me that there are so many remarkable people and communities in South Africa who we don’t always get to see or experience in our everyday lives.

To our farmers: thank you for working our land, feeding our country and continuing to do what you do with such resilience and pride. 👏

South Africa should be incredibly proud of you. 🇿🇦🌾

And yes… we may have gone to Nampo looking for some “stock” 😅 but we came away with a whole new appreciation for the people behind it. 😉🤠 by @sacha_jack

One of the biggest fears I hear is, “Maybe it’s too late for me.”

Too late to meet someone.
Too late to fall in love.
Too late to start again.

But love doesn’t follow a schedule and your journey cannot be measured against someone else’s timeline.

Perhaps the years you spent single weren’t wasted.

Perhaps they gave you the wisdom, self-awareness and clarity to know what you truly want now.

You haven’t missed your moment.

You are simply at your moment.

Stay open. Stay hopeful. And remember that the right person may still be someone you haven’t met yet. ❤️

You’re not late. You’re on time for the right person.

Maybe we need to talk more about what men bury.

As a matchmaker, I spend a lot of time listening to men - not just to what they say they want in a partner, but to what sits underneath it.

The pressures. The expectations. The vulnerability they don’t always know how to express. The things they have been taught to keep buried because they believe they need to be strong, successful and in control.

And I think women deserve to hear some of that perspective too.

Not because men shouldn’t be accountable. And not because women should excuse poor behaviour.

But because understanding creates empathy and empathy creates a very different kind of connection.

Healthy masculinity isn’t about being hard, emotionless or invulnerable.

It’s about being secure enough to be honest. Strong enough to be vulnerable. And confident enough to let someone truly see you.

Because sometimes the thing standing between two people isn’t a lack of chemistry.

It’s simply that neither has learned how to hear the other. Xx by @sacha_jack
