Ikigai is a feeling, not the solution.

After frantically searching and working on self-development for over six years, I found the most simple answers in my own language - in fact the answer was to be present in the present moment with your present self, and trust that you are supported in living the life you wish to live - and this is my subtle way of sharing these findings with you.

My understanding of Japanese doesn't come from cultural fascination. This is my re-discovery of what shapes the unspoken baselines the Japanese cultural wisdom, that is still very much alive in the day-to-day language

They say a picture says a thousand words, but pictures also weren’t enough to tell this story.
One of the biggest turning points in my life came about from a sequence of unexpected connections, one leading to another - slowly but surely nudging me to a “return”.
This journey wasn’t just a return to a geographical location, but it was a catalyst for the greater return. My self-return.

What I never had the words to say, now, with the help of so many, has taken shape. The first chapter, of the dialog I hope to start with the world.
I am full of gratitude to have been given this path to walk, with the people who I’ve been blessed with to walk parts of it with.

Go-en.
The magic word I wish to share with the globe.

This short was also created by the editor of “Tethered Home -心の里帰り-“

I was born and raised in rural Japan, stuck in the in-between, unable to feel at home, at home. But last year a strange force brought me back to where it all began, and a homecoming started to take shape.

We spend too much time rationalizing and trying to put words to things when our whole job is to just experience this gift that is our life ✨

How are we supposed to be ourselves when the whole world tells us what to be and what not to be?

Arinomama is the Japanese word that gives us the permission to literally just be. EXACTLY as we are without having to fix anything. It’s in that state of allowing that we start listening to the internal wisdom that we all carry within us.

You're allowed to feel what you feel.

What might seem counterproductive but is the most productive of all? That is to incorporate Ma in your day-to-day.

Modern society has somehow convinced us that filling every gap and chasing efficiency is the fastest way to success, but in the process are you living the life that you want? There is no need to wait to a certain point before evaluating whether it was all worth it or not.

Ma invites you to check in with everything that you do. How is that landing for you? What does that make you feel like? What's the point of creating a life that you are perpetually running in, if running is not what you enjoy?

I'm not saying that efficiency is wrong. I'm just saying that Ma gives you the opportunity to check in with yourself, whether that method is the best method for you. It creates a sustainable way of living a life that YOU design, that is meant for you, that you enjoy.

There are thousands of brilliant hacks and methods out in the world that people have discovered that work for them. That doesn't necessarily mean that if that method doesn't suit you, you are somehow inferior. It's that you haven't quite found a method for yourself. Ma opens the feedback loop with yourself to try things, see how they land and what could be tweaked. Without having the space to evaluate and feel things through, you might be gaining momentum towards a path you don’t even want to go down.
