5 years ago, an old friend of mine made a listing that their band was looking for a new drummer, I was rusty and honestly never that good at playing the drums but knew how to lay down a beat at a consistent tempo so I thought I'd give it a try. Ever since then I've had the amazing opportunity to tour and make music with some of my best friends and now we have released our debut album.

I've been putting off making this post for so long because part of me can't believe the album is out already, the other part of me doesn't even know how to phrase how much excitement and joy it brings me to have this album out for everyone to hear. Consider this post both a celebration of our achievement, and a love letter to all my friends and family who have been on this journey with me and showed so much undying support for what started as just a silly little hobby of mine.

Mongel is out now on all platforms. Some of the tracks off this album have been played on radio stations and charted in countries I can only dream to one day visit. We've gotten to share stages with some giants in our genre and will continue to tour and play more shows (announcements coming soon) and I can't wait to keep playing these songs till my hands fall off. taken in Mongrel by @sadbanddad

Rest in peace Marmalade and Dory

They were both some of the best cats in the world and lived with me through some of my most formative years. After having them for over a decade, they became members of our family and best friends.

I still remember how small Marmalade was when we first got him, a kitten less than 4 months old who would crawl into the sleeves of our jumpers for warmth. I remember the day we got Dory and how shy she was, hiding in a bookshelf, afraid of the world after the years of probable abuse and neglect she was given before we took her in. These two experienced so much love and care, and when they felt comfortable with us, they returned the favour tenfold for over a decade.

I miss the way Marmalade's purring was so loud and strong that it would come out as a weird chirp-purr hybrid. I miss how Dory would crawl into my shoulder for a cuddle before settling down to lay down parallel from me, just out of reach for my arms to pat her but still close enough to feel a sense of affection. I miss when I'd have to leave to go on tour/holiday and I'd have to leave a shirt I'd worn all day on my bed for Dory to still have my scent while Im gone for comfort, only to come back and find the shirt in the same spot, absolutely covered in cat fur from the hours she spent laying and sleeping on it. I miss Marmalade's constant meowing and reaching to be picked up and cuddled.

These two cats were not just my bestfriends, but also best friends with eachother, and its only fitting that they would go out together, one after the other. Marmalade persevered so much with his constant health struggles after losing one of his legs and Dory was so strong and sweet all the way to the end. These cats were the greatest blessings in my life, and while its sad to see them go, Im glad that even after life they still get to spend their time together, as they did when they were alive. Mongrel tour done 💥🥀

Thank you to all the ~250 people who bought tickets and who rocked up to our shows. A number of times, we were quite overwhelmed by the response. This has been our biggest and most fulfilling tour to date. Heartfelt thanks to everyone who grabbed presale tickets. In these rocky times, presales make so much difference and give confidence to both bands and venues.

Thank you to all the friends and family who put us up while we were on the road and to those who kept us fed and watered! Thanks to the venues, all the people who bought swathes of merch, the amazing soundies we worked with and all the bands that we wrangled together.

We really lucked out and met so many amazing people over the past month. That in itself is such a highlight.
