A year ago, Jaymin and I joined the @noobspearo 1770 Beginner Spearfishing Retreat. It was one of the coolest experiences we've had as a couple, doing what we love - spearing and exploring the ocean.

Noob Spearo is a company of courses and experiences tailored to spearfishing. This Retreat was to get us certified as beginner freedivers - how to be safe in the water and look after your dive buddy.

Before this trip, the safety aspect with spearing made me anxious, and it held me back from being comfortable in the water and enjoying the sport. What I learnt in the course - the science behind your breath hold, how to navigate risky situations, how to look out for your mate when you can't verbally communicate - gave me the knowledge to feel totally comfortable in the water and to love this amazing sport.

We spent a day in the classroom, then the rest out on the Great Barrier Reef putting it all into practice.

You're surrounded by some of Australia's best spearos as your instructors, along with their wealth of knowledge, looking after you and guiding you throughout the four days.

Noob Spearos' motto "No ego, full froth" was the strong theme pushed throughout the entire four days. All students part of the adventure brought the same vibes with them.

We're prepping for an even bigger trip with @noobspearo just around the corner, but this time, Sailing the Whitsundays 🙌🏼
