It’s been a minute again 🙈 So time for a little life update:

Turned 33 last month and I’m trying to not let myself feel too old 😂 Forever staying young at heart 💙 and simply enjoying the things I love with the people I love!

Currently reading City of Gods and Monsters and LOVING it! Took a break from it this weekend to read Threshing Day 🐉 tho and I loved finally reading with the knowledge that we had reliable narrators this time 🫶🏻

📖 Been spending a lot more time writing lately too! Which has been so therapeutic for me and reignited the fire 🔥 under me to really get my work out there and finally query literary agents to work toward making my author dreams come true! ☁️

And I would be remiss to not mention the fact that Taylor Swift gave us new music 🎧 and I have had it on REPEAT!! Not to mention Avengers Endgame: Encore too!!! 🙌🏻 Your girl had been absolutely THRIVING!!! 🍾 And I am 100% convinced Pink Clouding is about my love 😍 Tom Hiddleston so you KNOW that’s my fave of the encore songs 🤭

💥 The countdown is on for ACOTAR, Doomsday, and my trip to NYC to see Tom Hiddleston and Hayley Atwell in Much Ado About Nothing 🗽

📖 Reading has always been one of my favorite ways to relax... but having OCD means it doesn’t always look the way people expect. 🤍

🌙 A lot of these probably seem like random little reading habits from the outside. For me, they don’t really feel optional. They’re just the way my brain works. 🧐 I think that’s why reading can be both one of my biggest comforts and one of my biggest challenges. Most people pick up a book to relax, but sometimes my brain turns it into a whole process instead. 💙

💬 I’d love to know... did any of these surprise you? And if you also have OCD, are there any reading habits that make complete sense to you but leave everyone else a little confused? 👇🏻

This is probably the one people are most surprised by. I don’t skim. I can’t. 😅 Reading has always been really slow for me because my brain wants every word to make sense before it’ll let me move on. If I lose the picture in my head for even a second, I’m right back at the beginning of the paragraph.

I wish I was one of those people who could put a book down at 30% and move on. 😂 Instead I’ll spend the next week wondering how it ended, so I usually just finish it anyway. Sometimes that’s a great decision... sometimes it’s definitely not.

This one has probably cost me the most money. 😂 If I accidentally buy one hardcover in a series, now I suddenly “need” every book to be hardcover. Same with authors. Once my shelves have a system, changing it feels impossible.

This is probably the one that helps my anxiety the most. 🤍 When I already know what’s coming, I get to enjoy all the little details instead of worrying about what happens next. That’s why I reread favorites so often.

Could I underline without a ruler? Technically yes. Will I spend the next three chapters staring at the crooked line instead of what I highlighted? Also yes. 😂

This is why I almost always read at home. Coffee shops look so cozy, but if people ar by @sadespages

✨ Mood readers... I need your help 😌📚

💙 I just finished Our Perfect Storm and absolutely loved it, but now I’m in that weird in-between mood where I have no idea what I want to read next 🤍

📖 I’ve been reading a lot more contemporary lately and it’s been so much fun, but part of me wants to jump back into fantasy. The Serpent and the Wings of Night has been recommended to me more times than I can count, Daughter of No Worlds keeps getting compared to Throne of Glass, and I can’t decide if it’s finally time. 👀

☀️ Then again... I loved Carley Fortune’s writing so much that I’m tempted to pick up Every Summer After. And since the show just came out, I’m kind of thinking it would be fun to read it first. 🎬

⚓ Love Overboard also has my attention because I’m a huge Below Deck fan, The Five-Star Weekend has me curious now that it’s getting adapted too, and somehow Dungeon Crawler Carl keeps showing up everywhere I look. 😂

💙 One of my favorite things about books and reading is that we can all find ourselves in different ways in different characters 📖 We can heal along side them, go through our own battles beside them, relate to them and feel seen through them… ✨ I personally have found myself in many of SJM’s characters and I know so many of you have as well.

🦋 I loved Feyre when I first read her story and I always will. ACOTAR is one of my most favorite series 🥹 But when I read Throne of Glass for the first time, I was going through a really hard time in my life ❤️‍🔥 And I found myself in Aelin as I went through my own battles and growth along side reading about her’s. And when I read Crescent City 🏙️ I met Bryce and found someone whose brain works just like mine does 🙌🏻 and connected to her on a level I had never connected to a character before. 🫶🏻
