VŠCHT Prague Building
competition, 3rd place, fall 2025
Team: @sadovskyarchitects @hellaella @matus_stieranka @lub.stan.zub @acoty1 @nataliokali
Visualizations by @surreal_studio_sk

The proposed building for the University of Chemistry and Technology (UCT) is situated on the newly designed central square of the fourth quadrant. Owing to its strategic location at the entrance to the university district and its excellent access to public transport, the square has the potential to become a vibrant and dynamic urban space.

The building is conceived as a new gateway to the UCT campus while serving as a representative landmark that reflects the values and mission of the institution. Its ambition is to create a stimulating, open, and inspiring environment that fosters interdisciplinary collaboration, curiosity, and spontaneous interactions among students, researchers, and academic staff.
These ambitions are embodied in the architectural concept of the building itself.

The central design motif is a vertical circulation and social space, designed as a central void that extends through all levels of the building. This space acts as the project’s connective element, vertically linking the public square with the rooftop terrace while simultaneously creating both a physical and symbolic bridge between the new teaching facilities and the historic UCT building. The result is a naturally daylit, visually transparent interior that enhances wayfinding and maintains a continuous visual and symbolic connection with the school’s original architecture. by @sadovskyarchitects

Projects like this hold a special place in our studio. It’s not only about design—it’s about creating space for community, connection, and growth.

We transformed a former bank into an open, flexible community center filled with natural light, soft transitions, and places to meet, talk, and share. Every detail supports a sense of belonging and individuality.

Come visit IN-ko every Wednesday from 10:00–17:00 during their Open Day

Projects like this hold a special place at our studio. Our support wasn’t about deciding whether to be or not to be a part of it. It is a natural reflection of what we believe in and the kind of world we want to live in.
The space was stripped of the remaining office layers of the former bank and turned into an interior that offers the desired openness and flexibility. The abundance of large windows and natural light further enhances and unifies the open character of the space. The functional layout of the community center remains adaptable and can easily be adjusted to the evolving needs of its users over time.
The main theme of the space is connection. A unified floor naturally transitions into stairs/seating, opening up new possibilities for the use of the space. Curtains running along the entire frontage are a form of soft enhancement. The colorful reception desk is the first point of contact with the community center. It supports the concept of belonging as well as uniqueness.

Come visit IN-ko every Wednesday from 10:00–17:00 during their Open Day!

Linear Villa

Team: @becky.hod @spaniel_ja @acoty1

Axo by @anitamenkeova

The concept follows a traditional layout scheme of a palace with the floorplan spread out into a clear linear enfilade. This linear shape divides the site into two contrasting gardens. One is orderly and geometrical, while the other is wild and natural. The domestic family life takes place in spaces, which are arranged consecutively so that they open up into both gardens. They are interconnected by an enfilade, which runs along the entire length of the house.

CONTINUOUS URBAN LANDSCAPE
Between the two buildings a closed longitudinal green courtyard is formed. By receding the mass we gain attractive terrace apartments with views. Towards the Tomášiková street we continue the street line and enhance it with an active ground floor.

Vizualization by @monolot.studio

Our concept consists of two volumes positioned parallel to the street, which through its shape utilise the most prominent quality present in this area - the views. The view not only of Kuchajda lake, but also views towards the city and the Carpathian Mountains.
