O B J E C T S I N M I R R O R A R E C L O S E R T H A N T H E Y APP E A R

Simulacro x Mandrágora — Friday 13 November at @upload_barcelona !

For this first, but hopefully not last, collaboration, we’re going all in with a marathon session across the two rooms of Sala Upload.

From 20:00, the main room opens with live performances from Magic Pony Productions, @caro.kann._ and @saekokilly , moving through experimentation, dub, psychedelia, post-punk, no wave or synth-heavy leftfield electronics. Later, @tiaxcousins and @dj_rino_pinguin_society take over for two extended 3-hour sets, shifting the focus fully to the dancefloor and stretching things deep into the night.

From midnight, Room 2 is taken over by our friends of @relativaradio , presenting Lana de Roca (Willi, AM/DM and DJ Feet).

Simulacro x Mandrágora — Viernes 13 de noviembre at Sala Upload.

Para esta primera (y esperemos que no última) colaboración entre Mandrágora y Simulacro, nos lanzamos con una sesión extendida repartida en las dos salas de la Upload.

A partir de las 20:00, la sala principal arranca con los directos de Magic Pony Productions ( @miron.pablo , @vacasj , @user00000017 & @keftagine ), Caro Kann y Saeko Killy, tres propuestas que atraviesan la experimentación, el dub, la psicodelia, el post-punk, el no wave o los terrenos más synth y leftfield de la electrónica. Más tarde, Tia Cousins y DJ Rino toman el relevo con dos sets extendidos de 3 horas cada uno, desplazando el foco de los directos a la pista de baile y abriendo la noche a recorridos largos e imprevisibles.

Desde medianoche, la sala 2 quedará en manos de la buena gente de Radio Relativa, que estarán presentando su proyecto Lana de Roca ( @williwilli___ @ruidosystems & @dontplaywithmafeet ).

This is the sound work I created for Christine Gensheimer’s animation
'Work in ProRes' in 2025.

The animation is very surreal, so I followed its atmosphere with sound, blurring the boundary between two worlds.

I was very happy with how it turned out, and I still love it so much.

𝑨𝒖𝒈𝒖𝒔𝒕 𝟔 – 𝑱𝒊𝒎𝒊 𝑻𝒆𝒏𝒐𝒓 𝑩𝒂𝒏𝒅 & 𝑺𝒂𝒆𝒌𝒐 𝑲𝒊𝒍𝒍𝒚 & 𝑫𝑱-𝑺𝒆𝒕𝒔

In 1994, Finnish jazz musician Jimi Tenor inadvertently provided the soundtrack for the Love Parade: “Take Me Baby” was the name of the kick-drum hit from Tenor’s solo debut. With a musical curiosity open to all directions, he has since created a broad body of work ranging from theater productions at Kampnagel to collaborations with the UMO Jazz Orchestra and Afrobeat albums with Tony Allen. Last year, Tenor recorded a new album feat. a Finnish-Ghanaian band, which is now also accompanying him to the Summer Festival. Drawing on influences from J-Pop, NDW, and industrial music, Saeko Killy the Japanese musician and producer creates a psychedelic musical dream world. The evening will be topped off with DJ sets by Isa Schwarzenberg & Daniel Jahn.

𝑨𝒖𝒈𝒖𝒔𝒕 𝟐𝟑 – 𝑭𝒂𝑼𝑺𝒕 𝒑𝒍𝒂𝒚𝒔 „𝑭𝒂𝒖𝒔𝒕 𝑰𝑽“

Founded in Hamburg in 1969, Faust set up a studio in rural Wümme, Lower Saxony, releasing four albums between 1971 and 1973 that blew apart the rock song form. Drawing on John Cage and the Velvet Underground, they forged an anarchic mix of rock, electronica, and tape collage – for which the British press coined the term Krautrock. Faust promptly made it a song title on their fourth album, the last to feature the original line-up of Jean-Hervé Péron, Hans Joachim Irmler and Werner “Zappi” Diermaier. Recorded at Virgin Records’ studio in Oxfordshire – whose bosses waited in vain for commercial German pop – Faust flirted with reggae and folk, deployed sequencers, wah-wah and fuzz at will: “a subtle dismantling of rock structure”, Pitchfork called it, “where beauty and absurdity coexist without hierarchy”. As the very last concert of this year’s Summer Festival Faust, led by Jean-Hervé Péron, will now perform “Faust IV” with an eight-piece lineup ranging from Péron’s daughter Jeanne-Marie to Chris Cutler.
