There are so many hidden crafts in India that we grow up surrounded by, yet barely know about.🪡 One of them is Batik. Often mistaken for block printing because, yes, a block can be part of the process..but batik is actually a wax-resist dyeing technique. Wax is applied onto the fabric, the fabric is dyed, and as the wax cracks, the dye seeps into those tiny lines, creating the beautiful crackle effect that makes every batik piece so distinctive. What looks like a simple print is actually a slow, layered, hands-on process..with a little unpredictability built into every piece.
