For some random reason I arrived in PEI the afternoon this Space Shuttle was being demolished. I didn’t know it at the time but as we drove passed the next morning, it was completely gone.

I often think about timing and all the hundreds if not thousands of micro decisions that were taken for me to drive through at JUST the right time and to not put off coming back at a later time to take those images.

#sponsored As a kid my respiratory condition always embarrassed me so I kind of kept it a secret. When I was older, I saw a few movies where kids got comfortable with their respiratory condition and their medication became their source of protection. In some ways, getting vaccinated is my adult version of that. I don’t want to risk getting COVID-19. Vaccination helps me protect myself and that’s why I choose to stay up to date with my COVID-19 vaccination.

SPIKEVAX™ XBB.1.5 is a vaccine used to prevent COVID-19 caused by the SARS-CoV-2 virus. It can be given to people aged 6 months and older.
The safety and effectiveness of SPIKEVAX XBB.1.5 mRNA vaccine for individuals 6 months of age and older are inferred from studies of a primary series and booster dose of SPIKEVAX Bivalent in individuals 6 months to 5 years of age, a booster dose of SPIKEVAX Bivalent in individuals >18 years of age, as well as data from studies which evaluated the primary series and booster vaccination with SPIKEVAX.
As with any vaccine, SPIKEVAX XBB.1.5 may not fully protect all those who receive it. Even after you have had the vaccine, continue to follow the recommendations of local public health officials to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
The most common or very common side effects of SPIKEVAX XBB.1.5 are pain at the injection site, tiredness, headache, muscle ache and stiffness, chills, fever, swelling or redness at the injection site, decreased appetite, nausea and/or vomiting, enlarged lymph nodes, hypoaesthesia (decreased sense of touch or sensation, numbness) or paraesthesia (tingling, itching or pricking sensation) and dizziness. Allergic reactions may also occur.
Vaccination may not be suitable for everyone, so ask your healthcare professional if SPIKEVAX XBB.1.5 is right for you. Full product information can be found on spikevax.com/en-CA/xbb15-pmi.pdf. To report an adverse event, please call 1-866-MODERNA (1-866-663-3762).

#sponsored I recently travelled to British Columbia to shoot a short film for an extraordinary director. She trusted me to be a part of her team to visualize her creative idea. That meant if I was going to travel, I was going to be vaccinated to help try and protect myself against covid during the shoot while interacting with a crew of people. [NACI Fall 2023, p.11E] #SorryCOVID, were you not invited to the shoot?

Martin is a Canadian photographer and filmmaker. There’s an old saying about a picture being worth a thousand words, so hopefully the images and films he creates can speak for themselves.
