TLDR: I’ve changed my artist name from Akuro to Safko and have released a new song (link in bio)! Expect monthly livestreams of me producing, patching modular, and/or DJing. 😎

I started the Akuro project in 2017 in college. I created music as an escape, as a way to create and evoke dystopian and fantasy worlds, relying on inspiration pulled from media like Dark Souls, SOMA, and Bladerunner (how original). Then, I graduated, began working, and COVID and life hit HARD… I didn’t make time to write music.

After more than two years of silence, I crawled out of that hole and began writing music again. But something was different. I was no longer writing as an escape from reality… I was writing to express myself and translate my emotions.

I’ve thought a lot about Akuro, the name didn’t feel right anymore for the music I’ve been making and I decided it was time for a new artist name. So, I’ve chosen one that is/was/will be undeniably me: Safko.

Because of this change in my music in 2023, I’ve retroactively changed all my releases from 2023 on to be under Safko! Don’t expect any crazy changes in my stye, in fact, there’s more in the pipeline. In celebration of this change, I’ve released a new song paired with another recent song as sort of a mini-EP (linkkk in biooo)

I’m so excited for 2025, I have music I plan on putting out throughout the year! Also, I’m planning on live-streaming once a month on YouTube/Twitch of me producing, patching my modular system (sound design or ambient), and DJing (details to come). Thanks for reading this far and hope you enjoy what’s to come. ☺️ by @safko_dsp
