The Chanakya Playbook by Abhiraj Gupta (Ancient Wisdom For The Morden Entrepreneur) 210Genre: Non-fiction The Chanakya Playbook by Abhiraj Gupta attempts to translate the ancient brilliance of Arthashastra into a practical guide for leaders and organisations — presenting Chanakya's ideas on strategic thinking, power management, business relationships, leadership and decision making through a contemporary lens. At its core this book serves as a reminder that great businesses are often built from within, shaped by a leader's mindset, influenced by how they navigate external challenges, and sustained by the equilibrium between the two.As a student of both Economics and Political Science I've got to read some sections of Arthashastra beforehand therefore my reading experience is greatly influenced by that. I appreciate that fact how this book takes a particular subject and then attempts to simplify the complex teaching of Chanakya with the help of modern day examples of companies like - The Tata Group, Reliance, Nokia, Amazon and many more.The chapters I found of value are — • Who's Got Your Back?• The Great Wall That said, the book wasn't without its shortcomings. The frequent use of Sanskrit terms in Roman script occasionally disrupted the reading flow for me, and the repetition of certain ideas across chapters (book) made some sections feel longer than necessary. Additionally, while the book contains valuable insights, I found the writing style somewhat technical and monotonous at times, which made it difficult to stay fully immersed.Therefore it was 3/5 stars read for me. However if you are someone who wants to read something about leadership and entrepreneurship I'd definitely suggest you to give this book a chance. You can also read the Arthashastra by Chanakya. ✨ Book Tour ✨No Such Thing As Monday by Sian Hughes Genre: Literary fiction, Contemporary fiction 210 pages Steffie spends her days working in a laundry shop, cleaning clothes. She was trying to make a life for herself. But then one day when she was bringing food for her father, he passed away, and that changed everything for her. She started looking up for her sister, Caroline (whom she had almost forgotten existed), and ways to tell her about father's death. And that was the time when she started re-discovering the dark reality of their childhood and much more. And we as readers get to live all of that with Steffie.This book deals with difficult themes like child abuse, childhood trauma, poverty, loneliness, guilt and shame.Last year I read Pearl by the same author and it touched my heart and soul, that's why I was super excited to read this one. And without any doubt it was excellent too. I really love the storytelling and writing style of Hughes, she never tries to glorify anything — she writes things in the most brutally honest manner. While reading about guilt and shame in this novel, I could truly feel it—how our mind processes these emotions. Surprisingly at times this book was quite nostalgic to read yet dark at the same time.While reading this book, several people asked me what it was about, but I couldn’t quite answer. The Vegetarian by Han KangGenre: Psychological Fiction, Literary Fiction183pagesYeong-hye, who is a dutiful wife of Mr. Cheong, one day suddenly decides to become a vegetarian. She stops eating meat. And that alone changed everything — how everyone sees her, her husband, her family, society and everyone around her. The book is divided into three parts, each one is told from a different point of view — The first part is told from Yeong-hye's husband's perspective. This part explores the theme of violence, control, and freedom. How deciding something as simple as what you want to eat or not can make you the centre of attraction, subject of violence, and embarrassment. The second part is told from her brother-in-law's perspective. This part explores the theme of beauty, morality, and more. It captures both the physical and psychological aspects of being subject of obsession and getting misused. The third part is told from her sister's perspective, In-hye. In-hye is trying to help her sister to get better. And while doing so she realised how she, herself is captured by society as well. Now my thoughts and experience— I was really flabbergasted by this book— it was razor-sharp. Han Kang has made the best use of every single word: her writing was hypnotic, poetic and claustrophobic. I was captured by the very first line of this book, and read it all thoroughly. Reading this book felt like watching a dream that later morphs into a dark nightmare. I really liked the part two the most. It was about how Yeong-hye's brother-in-law, an artist, got obsessed with her (because of a Mangolian mark on her buttocks). He invested her to become a subject for his art, and later misused her. Even after having such a complex theme, Han Kang has written this part very calmly and carefully— it almost reads like a poem, it was mouth-watering. Han Kang writes about Yeong-hye from multiple points of view but never really allows readers to know what's running inside Yeong-hye, and that shows her being controlled by others.(Continued in comments) by @sagarthereader

लाल टीन की छतनिर्मल वर्मा253काया एक बेहद अकेली लड़की है, जिसका बचपन खत्म होने को है। वह अपने भाई छोटे और बीमार माँ के साथ एक पहाड़ी शहर में रहती है, मिस जोसुआ के मकान में। और है सर्दियों की लंबी छुट्टी, जो खत्म नहीं होती, अचल पहाड़, आस पास ढेरों वृक्ष, और सिर के ऊपर खुला आसमान, अपने में अनंत सफ़ेद लिए बादल। पर काया अपने भीतर लिए है असंख्य स्मृतियां, वह हर रात भाग जाती है पर कहीं नहीं पहुँच पाती। माँ निरंतर बड़ी होती जा रही थी पर, भाई छोटे अकेले सो नहीं पता था, मिस जोसुआ केक खिलाती थी और बताती थी कैसे वह एक दिन मर जाना चाहतीं हैं पर तभी काया छुट्टियां बिताने अपने चाचा के घर चली जाती है। (बाकी किताब में)यह किताब स्वयं में पृथक है, कहानी को कहने के लिए निर्मल जी ने शब्दों से ज़्यादा आवाज़ों का प्रयोग किया है जैसे — रात के समय हवा की सांय सांय आवाज़, पेड़ पर बैठे पक्षी के चीखने की आवाज़, और शरीर से निकलने वाली आवाजें। इस सब के बावजूद किताब अपने अंदर एक सन्नाटा, एक खालीपन (जो एकदम भरी महसूस होता है) लिए हुए है। लगता है जैसे कहानी बर्फ़ से ढके पहाड़ों की तरह एक जगह स्थिर है पर जिस तरह पहाड़ों के ना हिलने पर भी उनमें निरंतर बदलाव आते है (बर्फ़ का गिरना, बर्फ़ का पिघलने, पेड़ों का उगना, पेड़ों का सुख जाना, और भी कई) ठीक उसी तरह कहानी भी लगातार चल रही है। कहानी बचपन से किशोरावस्था की ओर जाने का एक सटीक वर्णन है। अपने बचपन के आखिरी दिनों को जीते हुए पुराने जिए हुए बचपन की स्मृतियों को याद करना, मन के भीतर तूफान का उठना, सबकुछ उजड़ जाना, अंतहीन अकेलापन महसूस करना और इन सब के बाद हर रात बिस्तर पर पड़े रहना, और सपने देखना — कभी कभी मृत्यु के सपने, और पूरी काली रात बिना सोए यहाँ से वहाँ भटकते हुए बीता देना। किताब आज की ख़त्म की अब ऐसा लग रहा है मानो जैसे कोई भारी चीज़ जिसको लिए लिए घूम रहा था अचानक से भाप बनकर उड़ गई हो। दोनों हाथ खाली हो गए हैं। समझ नहीं आ रहा कैसे साझा करूं इस अनुभव को, अपने विचारों को। किताब जरूर पढ़िए इतना ही बोलूंगा।यहाँ तक पढ़ने के लिए धन्यवाद।सप्रेम — सागर 🍂🌻🦋☁️#hindibooks #nirmalverma #lalteenkichhat #hindikitaaab #kitaab by @sagarthereader

He showed how not all the survival stories are loud, some can even be listened to in silence, in day-to-day happenings. I first read this book five years ago. And honestly I forgot the story. Reason being my mind was not capable of holding it all, and my body was not capable of feeling the intensity of the story at that time. That's why I decided to read it again. And this was the best decision I made. I'd never forget this story now. Today, I would simply say that this is an important text, and people must read it anyhow. I appreciated how the story didn’t revolve solely around Ved and Carlos but gave space to the people orbiting their lives. The friendship between Disha and Ved was a particular delight — second only to the tender, soft conversations between Ved and Carlos.This book doesn’t deeply dwell on the everyday struggles queer people face. Instead, it offers us a story where two men are already in love, already somewhat secure, already choosing joy — though not without a few hurdles. In that sense, it reads almost like a fairy tale, and I truly enjoyed that lightness. A Man Called Ove by Frederick Backman Genre: Contemporary Fiction295I absolutely believe that just as we choose books, books too choose their moment with us. A cousin gifted me this book 2 years ago on my birthday. I wanted to read it so badly back then. I picked it up several times, opened it, even read a few lines — but somehow, I could never go beyond that. This time, though, it simply found its way into my hands. And finally, I read it.Ove is fifty nine. He is the kind of person who points out the people he doesn't like the look of. Who always wants things to happen in a righteous manner. He finds people aliens who don't know how to drive. He doesn't like instant coffee, cats, and his neighbours. He is a man of black and white. And there was Sonja, his wife, who he loves dearly. She was the colour. All the colour he had. She passed away six months ago and now our Ove is tremendously waiting for the death or maybe trying to find a rhythm in life, again. I had a great time reading this book. Ove was a character you'd want to read more and more about, though he was nothing extraordinary but completely predictable. There was no rush. The book was taking all the time to deliver the story gorgeously. Backman has a writing style where he repeats some lines again and again throughout the book but each time the same lines hit you more intensely and differently. This book talks about grief and loss in such a human way, it was so honest. I admire how slow the story was moving, this book felt like a space to meditate or just simply relax. Some lines of this book have stuck to my heart, guess I'll carry them with me forever. Oh, what a sweet book this was! Now I won't say I was laughing, giggling or crying while reading it. But there were moments when I found myself smiling gently at the pages, or simply staring at them — blank-faced, but full inside.Rating - 4/5 Thank you so much for taking time to read this review. I was so completely invested that everything unfolding on the pages made me feel raw, unfiltered emotions. It gave me a deep sense of catharsis—I almost cried, yet I felt much lighter afterward.How do I even explain what it felt like? I find myself lacking words to express the poignant pleasure it gave me.I cared deeply for Appu. He is such a sweet, innocent soul—wanting to change the world around him, always searching for ways to ease other people’s pain. He longs to understand God, and equally longs to understand why life is the way it is, especially his mother.There were moments when I wished I could step inside the book and hug him—and the other characters too.
