I am so beyond grateful and excited to announce my verbal commitment to play D1 beach volleyball at Texas!!!

First and foremost, I want to thank God for blessing me beyond anything I could have ever imagined. He has worked in so many ways and I can’t wait to see what He does through Texas. Secondly, thank you so much @stein_metzger @angieakers and @willjbuchanan for believing in me and making this dream a reality. I can’t wait to be a longhorn!

Thank you @p413_kcbeach, specifically Coach Eric and Coach Jenny for taking me in and teaching me everything I need to know about the game, and most importantly my Lord, Jesus. You guys have blessed me in so many ways I can’t put into words. Another big thank you to @cvuuu_ and @training_matrix for being a huge impact with me over the past year. I can’t wait to keep working out with you over the next two years. Also thank you @j_morris13 for helping train me this past year. You have been more than just a trainer to me.

Thank you @smashleighhoulton for coaching me over the past four years. You have grown me not just as a volleyball player, but as a person who can do hard things. Also thank you to my high school coach @heycoachalexisvb for always being so supportive.

Finally, thank you to my parents. Mom and dad, yall have been more than just supportive, you guys have been the best role models always encouraging me to play my best and lean on God along the way. I couldn’t have asked for two better people in my life.

HOOK ‘EM HORNS!!! 🤘🧡🥹

As a competitive athlete, I used to struggle with losing. I knew losing taught me how to refine my skills and improve my game. But that’s not what I struggled with. I wrestled with the fact that losing crushed me. It ruined my day and sometimes my week.

For too long, I let winning or losing define me. It was my identity. I was playing for my own glory and success instead of something greater. The world celebrates this but I learned it is a hard way to live. As an athlete, you will never, EVER, win every game you play. It’s impossible. So if you tie your identity and joy to performance, you are setting yourself up for failure.

So I decided to tie myself to something that never changes or disappoints—to Jesus Christ.

Sports has its ups and downs…and so does life. But Christ is the rock. In Colossians 3:23, God calls us to work hard and cheerfully at all we do. When we follow this directive, success often follows. But when it doesn’t, you can still have glory, peace, and joy because your identity is in Christ and not in your sport.

In other words, when you win, you give GLORY TO JESUS, and when you lose, you give GLORY TO JESUS. Either way, you have contentment and peace because your identity isn’t wrapped up in your performance. Ultimately, you can play free and with great joy when you know that Christ is the real prize.
