I built SAHP Unite because I was tired of feeling alone.

Stay-at-home parenting can feel incredibly isolating sometimes. Not because we don’t love our families, but because so much of what we carry happens quietly, behind the scenes, and often without recognition.

The mental load.
The emotional load.
The constant planning.
The caregiving.
The responsibility.
The pressure to “do enough.”

And yet, I knew I couldn’t possibly be the only one feeling this way.

There are millions of stay-at-home parents and caregivers from all walks of life. Some of us became SAHP by choice. Some by circumstance. Some temporarily. Some long-term. Some work part-time, remotely, or juggle side work while still carrying the weight of home and family life.

But regardless of our paths, so many of us understand what it means to keep showing up every day for the people we love.

That’s why I created SAHP Unite.

Not because I have life perfectly figured out.
Not because I want perfection.
But because I wanted to help create a calmer, more supportive space where people could feel seen, heard, valued, and understood by others who truly get it.

Sometimes we don’t need someone to fix things.
Sometimes we just need to know we’re not carrying it alone.

You belong here.

One of the most important things I want people to understand about SAHP Unite is this:

This space was never meant to only be for one kind of parent, family, or story.

Stay-at-home parenting and caregiving can look incredibly different from one household to another.

Some people are stay-at-home moms.
Some are stay-at-home dads.
Some are grandparents raising children.
Some are guardians, caregivers, foster parents, aunts, uncles, or family members stepping into support roles.

Some people work additionally.
Some work remotely.
Some are balancing side gigs while still carrying the emotional and mental load of family life.

Some people intentionally chose this path.
Others were pushed into it through life circumstances they never expected.

But regardless of how someone arrived here, one thing remains true:

Caregiving matters.
Support matters.
Community matters.

SAHP Unite was built to be a calmer, more welcoming space for the people carrying these invisible responsibilities every single day.

You do not have to fit one perfect mold to belong here.

What’s one thing about your caregiving journey you'd be willing to share?

I didn't create SAHP Unite because I had everything figured out.

I created it because I kept seeing the same thing over and over again.

Stay-at-home parents carrying invisible responsibilities.

Parents questioning whether what they do matters.

Parents feeling isolated, overlooked, or misunderstood in a role that asks so much of them every single day.

The more I listened, the more I realized these experiences weren't unique to me.

There are millions of stay-at-home parents from different backgrounds, families, and circumstances.

Different stories.

Different journeys.

But many of us understand what it feels like to carry a great deal while rarely talking about it.

SAHP Unite was created to help fill a small part of that gap.

A place to connect.

A place to listen.

A place to learn from one another.

A place to remember that none of us have to carry it all alone.

If you're here, I'm glad you found us. 💛

If this resonates with you, I'd love to know what part connected with you most. 💛

Right now, I may be the one writing most of the posts.

The one starting the conversations.

The one creating the resources.

The one quietly showing up each day to build this community.

And honestly...

I'm okay with that.

Because every community starts somewhere.

Before there are hundreds of conversations, there's usually one person willing to begin.

SAHP Unite wasn't created because I had all the answers.

It was created because I remembered what it felt like to need a place where I felt understood.

A place where stay-at-home parents didn't have to explain why what they do matters.

A place where they could simply show up as they are.

So for now, I'll keep building.

I'll keep showing up.

And one day, when someone needs this space, I hope they'll find it waiting for them. 💛

If you could create one thing to support stay-at-home parents, what would it be?

One thing I've learned over the years is that support doesn't always look the way we expect it to.

Sometimes it looks like advice.

Sometimes it looks like encouragement.

Sometimes it looks like someone showing up when you need an extra set of hands.

I think about that often when I look at the people in my own life.

My mom always finds ways to make visits special for my son. Whether it's a favorite meal, a treat, or simply making time for him, she helps create memories he'll carry with him long after he's grown.

My dad has spent years helping me tackle projects that felt bigger than I could handle on my own. From helping me pick out materials for raised garden beds to moving dirt, mulch, and everything in between, he's always willing to lend a hand, offer guidance, or help me figure things out.

The older I get, the more I realize that support doesn't have to solve every problem.

Sometimes it simply reminds us that we don't have to carry everything by ourselves.

To everyone who helps lighten the load for someone else—whether you're a parent, grandparent, spouse, friend, neighbor, or chosen family—

Thank you. 💛

Who is someone you're grateful for today?

For a long time, I treated asking for help like some kind of personal failure.

If I was capable of doing something myself, I felt like I *should* do it myself.

This spring, I planned and built our family's garden space.

I mapped out the layout, researched materials, decided what to plant and where, built five raised garden beds (including three vertical beds), added a ladybug house, planned herbs to attract beneficial insects, and created a space that our whole family could enjoy.

Is it perfect?

No.

Is it exactly what we needed?

Absolutely.

Along the way, my dad came with me to pick out the wood for the first bed, helped me choose the right screws, and later jumped in to help level the first two beds and fill them with dirt.

Could I have done those parts myself?

Probably.

Was I grateful that I didn't have to?

Absolutely.

That experience reminded me of something I've been trying to learn:

Accepting help isn't always about needing help.

Sometimes it's about letting the people who care about you be part of what you're building.

Now that same garden has become something we all enjoy together. My son helps care for it, my parents stop by to tend it with us, and what started as a project has become family time.

Accepting help didn't take away from what I accomplished.

It added memories I wouldn't trade for anything. 💛

What's something you've accepted help with recently that made the experience even better?

I noticed something recently.

Every time someone says stay-at-home parenting is hard, someone eventually responds with:

"But imagine doing all of that AND working full-time."

And every time someone says working parents are overwhelmed, someone responds with:

"But imagine being with kids all day without a break."

Somewhere along the way, parenting became a competition most of us never wanted to enter.

Maybe the answer isn't deciding who has it harder.

Maybe it's recognizing that every family makes sacrifices that nobody else fully sees.

Some parents sacrifice time.

Some sacrifice income.

Some sacrifice careers.

Some sacrifice flexibility.

Most sacrifice pieces of themselves along the way.

Different doesn't mean easier.

Different doesn't mean harder.

Different means different.

And maybe recognizing the value in someone else's experience doesn't take anything away from our own.

At SAHP Unite, that's the kind of conversation I hope we continue creating.

A place where stay-at-home parents don't have to defend their value before they can feel seen.

What do you think?

I originally made these routines for my son.

Just something simple to help mornings and bedtimes feel a little smoother.

What I didn't expect was creating a child who is deeply committed to preventing future pimples. 😂

Apparently skincare starts earlier than I thought.

The routines stayed though.

Less reminding.

More independence.

A little more breathing room for everyone.

If visual routines help your family too, comment ROUTINE and I'll send you the details. 💛

Not every community needs to start with a commitment.

Sometimes you just want to look around, read a few conversations, download a resource, or see if a space feels right.

That's exactly why free membership exists at SAHP Unite.

As a free member, you can explore conversations, join discussions, access selected resources, and participate in the way that works best for you.

Read quietly. React to posts. Share your thoughts. Jump in when you're ready.

There is no right way to belong here.

And if you decide free membership is where you stay, that's okay too. 💙

I kept making the same mistake.

Every task felt urgent.

Every project felt important.

Every frustration felt like something I needed to fix immediately.

Eventually I realized my problem wasn't my to-do list.

My problem was treating everything like it needed to happen right now.

The truth is, most of us are carrying more than we can realistically hold all at once.

That's part of what inspired me to create the "What Can Wait?" resource for the community.

Because sometimes progress isn't about doing more.

Sometimes it's about deciding what deserves your attention today — and giving yourself permission to let the rest wait.

What's something you've chosen to let wait for now?

Laundry wasn't even supposed to happen today.

Saturday is laundry day.

Saturday came and went.

The laundry remained.

Then today I looked at it and had a realization:

Why was I folding clothes that were going to get hung up anyway?

Why was I carefully folding underwear that literally nobody was going to inspect?

So I tried something different.

Underwear went into a pile.

Hanging clothes went into a hanger pile.

The only things that got folded were the things that actually get folded.

Somehow my husband's shirts still ended up folded nicer than mine because apparently some habits are stronger than others. 😂

Two loads folded and sorted in 12 minutes.

Three minutes to put everything away.

Three minutes for socks.

Minimal back pain.

Maximum satisfaction.

Could I simplify it even more next time?

Probably.

But that's a problem for future me.

Today's version worked pretty well. 💛

Sometimes "Making It Work" isn't about doing more.

Sometimes it's about asking:

"Am I making this harder than it needs to be?"

Sweet mornings…

that somehow turn into chaos before the day even fully starts.

Bathroom adventures that make absolutely no sense.

Outfit changes that feel like they happen in another timeline.

Somehow we’re laughing through it anyway.

Days filled with laughter, tantrums, wild energy, and pirate hats showing up at the most unexpected times.

Fuzzy socks on freshly cleaned floors.

Mud “potions” proudly presented like they belong in a science museum.

And the sweeping…

always the sweeping.

At some point, we stop fighting it.

We join in instead.

Because it’s going to be messy again anyway.

And somewhere in all of that, we realize:

These are the moments.

Not the perfect ones.

The real ones.

The loud ones.

The chaotic ones.

The ones that stay with us.

Take a breath.

We’re in this together.

We’re stronger together. 💛

What’s your most “this is chaos but I love it” parenting moment lately?
